On January 13th, the Beijing-Tianjin Regional Research Center of the Medical Gas and Engineering Branch of China Industrial Gases Association held a founding meeting and an unveiling ceremony at Beijing Shougang Gas Co., Ltd.

Du Jun, Chairman of China Gases Association, Hong Mi, Secretary General of the Medical Institution Management Standard Committee of the National Health Commission, Major General Luo Erping, Vice President of the Medical Gas and Engineering Branch of China Gases Association, and Qi Jiaxue, Secretary General of the Medical Gas and Engineering Branch of China Gases Association and related leaders of Beijing Shougang Gas Co., Ltd. and Beijing Dongfang Medical Gas Co., Ltd. attended the ceremony and made speeches. The main leaders of Shunyi District Economic and Information Technology Commission, Shunyi District Safety Production Supervision Management Bureau, and Liqiao Town Government and leaders of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei regional hospitals and enterprises and experts also attended the ceremony.

The research center is located in the cold work zone of Beijing Shougang Gas Co., Ltd. It is the only medical gas research institute established by the Medical Gas and Engineering Branch of China Industrial Gases Association in Beijing and Tianjin. With Beijing Shougang Gas Co., Ltd. and Beijing Dongfang Medical Gas Co., Ltd. as its main bodies, the research center covers many fields such as hospitals and medical institutions, medical gas production enterprises, scientific research departments, and equipment manufacturing and testing institutions. Its main function is to promote the healthy development of the medical gas industry in six fields on the premise of ensuring people’s safety when it comes to medication and improving the quality and safety of medical gases according to the national laws and regulations on drug production safety and the principles of “serving the society and benefiting people’s livelihood”.

In the speech, the leaders attending the ceremony unanimously affirmed the establishment of the “Beijing-Tianjin Research Center” and believed that the center’s coverage of the fields of research, development, production, storage, transportation, and application of medical gases, which is not only conducive to ensuring medication safety and better serving the goal of a healthy China, but also is an important measure for regulating medical gas industry standards, promoting the integration of the medical gas industry into the coordinated development of Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei, and creating urban comprehensive service providers.

After the ceremony, all the guests went to the experience and exhibition center to view the exhibition of bottled medical gases; the exhibition of medical gas industry standards, books and materials; the exhibition of products of each member unit of the research center; and the equipment in the medical gas production and use links. They also visited standard wards and family oxygen room experience areas.

It is understood that after the establishment of the research center, it will fully integrate the medical gas research and development strength in Beijing and Tianjin and bring together high-end talents of domestic medical gases to commit to the breakthroughs of system basic theory and key technology of medical gases and put the coordination mechanisms in various fields of “politics, production, learning, research, and application” into practice. It makes contributions to the innovation and development in the field of Chinese medical gases by building a high-end platform for domestic medical gas research, application and future trend guidance, and by promoting the sustainable and healthy development of the industry with the latest scientific and technological achievements related to medical gases.
