Ministry of Natural Resources Releases Catalogue of Advanced and Applicable Technologies for Conservation and Comprehensive Use of Mineral Resources

On September 5th, the Ministry of Natural Resources released the notice on the Catalogue of Advanced and Applicable Technologies for Conservation and Comprehensive Use of Mineral Resources (2022), and six technologies of Shougang Group were selected, including five from Shougang Mining and one from Beijing Shougang Mining Investment Co., Ltd. Liaoning Ferroboron. Shougang Mining was the unit with the largest number of ferrous metals selected.

On the basis of being shortlisted for four technologies in the Catalogue of Advanced and Applicable Technologies for Conservation and Comprehensive Use of Mineral Resources (2019), combined with the innovation progress of applicable technologies and their popularization and application in the industry in recent years, Shougang Mining has studied the comprehensive influence of various technologies, and finally submitted applications for 7 technologies through Metallurgical Mines' Association of China (MMAC), China Mining Association (CMA) and China Aggregates Association (CAA), respectively. After such procedures as online application, association recommendation, expert evaluation, and social publicity, five technologies, including Safe and Efficient Mining Technology with Low Dilution and Loss in Large-scale Underground Mine, Integrated Technologies of High-Efficiency Concentration of Tailings, Extraction of Building Sand and Dry Discharge of Tailings, Technologies of Comprehensive Utilization of Tailings in Magnetite Tailings Pond and Restoration of Tailings Pond, Control Technology of “Elevator Autonomous Operation” of Auxiliary Shaft Hoister, and Fully Automatic Running System of Underground Locomotive, were selected.

Based on the comprehensive utilization of ferro-boron resources and selected Beneficiation Process Technology of Low-grade Uranium-bearing Ludwigite Resources, Beijing Shougang Mining Investment Co., Ltd. Liaoning Ferroboron applied the efficient and clean beneficiation technology innovatively and made a breakthrough in improving the utilization of low-grade uranium-bearing ludwigite resources. Among them, the recovery rate of B2O3 in the main boron concentrate is over 60%, and the comprehensive utilization rate of TFe and U in the paragenetic and associated minerals is over 82%, which has achieved good social and economic benefits.

In order to thoroughly implement the strategic decisions and arrangements of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council on accelerating ecological progress, speed up the popularization and application of advanced and applicable technologies for conservation and comprehensive use of mineral resources, and give full play to the guiding role of technological policies, the Ministry of Natural Resources has reviewed and updated the Catalogue of Advanced and Applicable Technologies for Conservation and Comprehensive Use of Mineral Resources. A total of 317 technologies related to exploration, oil and gas, coal, ferrous metals, non-ferrous metals, rare and precious metals, chemical minerals and nonmetals were selected in the catalogue, including 30 related to ferrous metals.
