Recently, the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Communist Youth League awarded the honorary title of "Beijing Youth Commandos" to 169 youth commando teams that have shown outstanding performance in flood control, disaster relief and post-disaster recovery and reconstruction. Among them, the Shougang Group's Youth Commandos for Fangshan Post-disaster Reconstruction, Shougang Industry City Service Center's Youth Commandos for Flood Control and Disaster Relief, and Shougang Environmental Ecology Company's Youth Commandos for Flood Control and Disaster Relief were honored with this title.

At the end of July 2023, a heavy rainstorm suddenly hit Mentougou District of Beijing. The water levels of the rivers around Lujiashan Waste Incineration Power Plant rose continuously. Due to the heavy rainfall, Lutuo Road leading to the power plant was cut off, causing disruptions in both directions of traffic flow, as well as interruptions in reclaimed water pipelines and communication. In an instant, Lujiashan Park became an "isolated island", and vehicles transporting household and kitchen waste could not enter the plant. In order to ensure the rapid disposal of household and kitchen waste in western Beijing, the Shougang Environmental Ecology Company quickly assembled a youth commando team to carry out flood control and disaster relief. Despite the heavy rain, 26 young workers walked for three kilometers carrying more than 10 tons of supplies on their shoulders or by hand. They cleared more than 10,000 m2 of roads. In less than 24 hours, they had reopened the main road leading to the plant, and production was resumed in 48 hours, laying a solid foundation for the full-load operation of four boilers and two machines.

Due to the heavy rain and mountain floods, the external road leading to Shougang Biomass Energy Restaurant Mentougou was damaged and cut off, the domestic water supply was interrupted and the food ingredients could not enter the factory. The Shougang Industry City Service Center quickly assembled a youth commando team to carry out flood control and disaster relief. The commandos went to the disaster site and formed a human bridge conveyor belt on the damaged road section, transporting more than 2,000 kg of food ingredients, more than 600 kg of rice noodles and more than 500 kg of seasonings and miscellaneous goods to the restaurant to ensure a timely food supply. During the seven days when the road was cut off, this group of young people set up a "food corridor" with their hands and shoulders, ensuring that the restaurant delivered hot meals to the workers fighting against the flooding and maintaining production.

On August 20th, 2023, in active response to the call of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Communist Youth League, the Shougang Group quickly assembled a youth commando team to support post-disaster reconstruction in Fangshan District. The commandos went to Dongzhuangzi Village, Hebei Town, Fangshan District, which was seriously affected by the disaster, to carry out dredging and post-disaster reconstruction. At the disaster site, the commandos cooperated with each other, carefully cleaned up silt with shovels, spades and wheelbarrows, and demonstrated their responsibility and commitment as young members of Shougang with practical actions. After completing the mission, the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Communist Youth League and Fangshan District Committee and Government sent thank-you letters to the Shougang Group.
