In recent days, the important speech made by General Secretary Xi Jinping during his inspection of Beijing has continuously caused an enthusiastic response among the leaders and employees of the Shougang Group. The General Secretary inspected Beijing again and put forward important instructions and higher requirements for Beijing's urban planning and construction, as well as its preparations for the Winter Olympics. His instructions and requirements are the guiding principles for us to accomplish all the work. The Shougang Group bears important historical responsibilities and missions in the synergetic development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, Beijing's urban planning and construction, and services to provide a guarantee for the Winter Olympics. Today, we specially open a column of ‘studying the speech, being the subject, making demonstrations and taking action’ to further raise an upsurge in the study and implementation of the spirit of this important speech, and constantly create a new situation in every aspect of the Shougang Group’s work.

On February 28^th, the General Administration of Sport of China and the Shougang Group signed the Cooperation Framework Agreement on Preparing for the 2022 Winter Olympics and Building a National Sports Industry Demonstration Area. This was a concrete action made to quickly implement the spirit of the important speech made by General Secretary Xi Jinping during his inspection of Beijing on February 23^rd and 24^th, implement services to provide a guarantee for the Winter Olympics, develop the sports industry and promote the national sports cause. Based on the concepts of conservation, environmental friendliness and integrity, both parties will make full use of the Shougang Group's industrial heritage and location advantages, and organically integrate the preparations for the Winter Olympics with the Shougang Group's transformation and development. Through the protective development and utilization of old industrial bases, both parties will explore the post-games operation mode of Winter Olympics property with Chinese characteristics in order to show the city's characteristics, enhance the charm of the city and create a sports industry demonstration area of innovative development.

China General Sports Administration Director Gou Zhongwen presented the Shougang Group with the ‘National Sports Industry Demonstration Area’ award. It was accepted by Shougang Group Party Committee Secretary and Chairman Jin Wei, who then signed the cooperation agreement with China General Sports Administration Assistant Director Li Yingchuan. The signing ceremony was attended by Beijing Vice Mayor Zhang Jiandong, leaders of relevant departments and centers of the China General Sports Administration, Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics Organizing Committee and relevant committees, offices and bureaus of Beijing, Shougang Group leaders including Zhang Gongyan, Liang Zongping, Wang Shizhong, Liang Jie and Liu Hua, and reporters from more than 20 media outlets including the People's Daily, Xinhua News Agency, CCTV, China National Radio, Economic Daily, Workers' Daily, China Sports Daily, China Metallurgical News, Beijing Daily and BTV.

In recent years, with the strong support of relevant national departments, the Beijing Municipal Party Committee and Beijing Municipal Government, the Shougang Group has taken advantage of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei synergetic development, seized the historical opportunity of the Organizing Committee of the Winter Olympics entering the Shougang Group and concentrated on speeding up the transformation and upgrading of the Beijing Park. The Park’s development and construction has entered the full implementation stage, and related projects have been brought into the Municipal Government's green approval channel. The progress of such key projects as the west extension line of Chang’an Avenue and the transformation of Xishi Winter Olympics Square has been accelerated.

To implement the instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping that Beijing's urban planning and construction and the preparations for the Beijing Winter Olympics are the two most important tasks of Beijing during the same period of time from now on, focus on preparing for the exciting, extraordinary and outstanding Beijing Winter Olympics, and implement Some Opinions of the State Council on Accelerating the Development of the Sports Industry and Promoting Sports Consumption and Guiding Opinions of the General Office of the State Council on Accelerating the Development of the Fitness and Leisure Industry, the China General Sports Administration and the Shougang Group reached a cooperation framework agreement on establishing a multi-channel, multi-level long-term cooperation mechanism, planning the construction and utilization of venues, and jointly promoting the efficient and orderly progress of preparations for the Winter Olympics and the construction of the national sports industry demonstration area.

China will be strong if it is strong in sports. In order to service, guarantee and prepare for the Winter Olympics, and develop the sports industry with the support of Winter Olympics resources, both parties will carry out the high-level construction of several winter sports training bases for national teams, winter sports event venues and the Winter Olympics square, and improve the integrated service functions of the Winter Olympics core area. Based on the strategic planning of the new Shougang Group high-end industry integrated services area, both parties will integrate the existing sports industry formats and resources of the Shougang Group, create such ‘sports +’ industries as sports fitness, sports and leisure, event services, sports technology, sports business, sports exhibition, sports finance and the domestic production of winter sports equipment, build the national sports industry demonstration area, explore the practical path of the innovative development, concentrated development, high-end development and green development of the sports industry, and promote the strategic transformation of the Shougang Group and the rapid development of the sports industry.
