Volunteer services have been playing a significant role in inheriting and promoting the Shougang Spirit, also serving as an important approach for SOEs to fulfill their social responsibilities and demonstrate commitment. During the Q&A session, Zhang Mengzhe, an employee of Beijing Shougang Co., Ltd. and a representative of Shougang’s young volunteers, shared the glorious traditions and innovative practices of Shougang’s volunteer services, demonstrating the proactive role of young people in SOEs in serving national strategies and promoting the spirit of volunteerism.
The glorious tradition of youth volunteer services at Shougang began in 1982, spanning over 40 years. In 2021, to welcome the CIFTIS and the Beijing Winter Olympics, Shougang formally established its Youth Volunteer Service Corps. The team has now registered as a corporate member of China Volunteer Service Federation and a council member of Chinese Young Volunteers Association, boasting 2,637 volunteers in the form of real-name registration.
Recent years witnessed the Shougang Youth Volunteer Service Corps making outstanding contributions in serving and safeguarding major national events and supporting the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, through closely centering on the service of national strategies in carrying out various volunteer service tasks. The team is committed to building an intelligent volunteer service system, forming a management model of “specialized training + one map, one code, one guide” to facilitate the precise, efficient and intelligent services.
To better serve the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, the Shougang Youth Volunteer Service Corps organized outstanding young Beijing-based scientific and technological talents stationed in Hebei to carry out volunteer service work in the province focusing on goals of industrial upgrading and green transformation, including popular science publicity, low-carbon environmental protection, and technology promotion.
In the future, Shougang Group will continue to inherit the tenet of “dare to venture, dare to insist, dare to work hard”, carry forward the Shougang Spirit of “dare to take responsibility, dare to innovate, dare to take the lead in the world”, promote the institutionalized and normalized development of volunteer services, and ensure that the “Shougang Volunteer Blue” continues to shine on the grand stages of the capital and the nation.
