BSIET Secures Major Steel Plant Project in Kazakhstan

Release Time:2025-12-05

Recently, Beijing Shougang International Engineering Technology Co., Ltd. (BSIET) successfully signed the Engineering Design Contract for Phase I (1 Million Ton Capacity) of Kazakhstan's 3-Million-Ton Short-Process Integrated Steel Plant, partnering with Fujian Hengwang Investment Co., Ltd. ("Fujian Hengwang"). Additionally, BSIET, Fujian Hengwang, and Tangshan Cishi Metallurgy Technology-Trade Co., Ltd. (TCS) entered into a Tripartite Agreement for the Direct Reduced Iron (DRI) Plant. These successful signings mark another solid step forward for BSIET in the international market. By leveraging their respective strengths, BSIET, Fujian Hengwang, and TCS have formed a powerful tripartite collaboration. This partnership has enabled them to successfully expand into overseas markets and secure the Phase I (1 million tons capacity) contract for the 3-million-ton short-process integrated steel plant project in Kazakhstan. This landmark project is expected to create over a thousand local jobs, generate sustained and stable tax revenue, and inject new momentum into Kazakhstan's economic development.

Against the backdrop of the global steel industry's accelerated transition toward low-carbon development, BSIET has actively implemented green development concepts. This is demonstrated by the introduction of internationally advanced Direct Reduced Iron (DRI) technology into the 3-million-ton short-process integrated steel plant project in Kazakhstan. This technology utilizes hydrogen-rich reducing agents, significantly reducing reliance on coke compared to traditional blast furnace ironmaking while effectively lowering pollutant emissions - aligning closely with global green development trends. Additionally, it provides high-quality raw materials for the subsequent electric arc furnace (EAF) steelmaking process. Upon completion, the project will enhance Kazakhstan's competitiveness in the global steel industry and drive the modernization of its domestic industrial sector. It will also serve as a model of international cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative, demonstrating BSIET's proactive response to the initiative.

In recent years, BSIET has consistently driven technological innovation, establishing it as Shougang's foremost competitive advantage. The company has successfully undertaken and completed over one hundred overseas engineering projects across South Asia, Southeast Asia, Africa, and South America. The successful implementation of these projects has earned widespread international acclaim, further solidifying Shougang's strong brand reputation in global markets.
