Shougang Achieves A+ Rating, Signifying World-Class Competitiveness

The findings reveal that in 2024, 18 Chinese steel enterprises, including Shougang Group, earned an A+ level, a classification signifying world-class competitiveness.
In 2024, Shougang has consistently adhered to the principle of "One Leadership, Two Integrations," propelling technological innovation to become its foremost competitive advantage. The Group has accelerated the creation of Shougang scenarios for China's modernization, with a sharp focus on efficient, high-quality, intelligent, and environmentally friendly manufacturing. By pursuing ultimate efficiency, energy efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and optimal resource allocation, Shougang has boldly confronted challenges and launched repeated initiatives, maintaining its historically high standards of operational performance. Over the past year, Shougang has further consolidated its strengths, continually enhancing its "manufacturing + services" capabilities. It has achieved breakthroughs in key and core technologies, deepened digital and intelligent empowerment, and refined its technological innovation system. Within key product areas and critical process technologies, Shougang has developed a portfolio of intellectual property rights that fosters core competitiveness. Its patent output capacity has continued to strengthen, with improvements seen in both quantity and quality. Shougang Park has made active progress in advancing the construction of its designated "one highland" and "one lever," creating new landmarks for urban revitalization. Its industrial system has progressively improved, consumer vitality is on the rise, and significant projects are being implemented in an orderly fashion. Consequently, Shougang's market competitiveness and influence have been continuously enhanced.
On the same day, the China Metallurgical Industry Planning and Research Institute also released the research findings on the 2024 ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) ratings of Chinese steel enterprises, in which Shougang Stock earned the highest possible AAA rating. In recent years, the Group has continuously refined its ESG management framework, publishing the Social Responsibility Report of Shougang Group for 13 consecutive years. It has also become a member unit of the World Steel Association's Sustainability Charter. In 2024, the Group published its inaugural Sustainability Report, showcasing the enterprise's responsible practices across the four dimensions of environment, society, governance, and value.
A total of 110 steel enterprises reportedly participated in this year's competitiveness (and development quality) rating for steel enterprises this time. Of these, 94 enterprises received ratings of A+, A, or B+. Eighteen steel enterprises were rated A+ (extremely strong) in terms of competitiveness (and development quality), and 35 steel enterprises were rated A (exceptionally strong).
