Recently, the China Metallurgical Industry Planning and Research Institute released the ESG Rating of Chinese Iron and Steel Enterprises report in which Beijing Shougang was rated as an AAA Environmental, Sustainability and Corporate Governance (ESG) Enterprise. It is reported that 84 iron and steel enterprises were included in this assessment, of which nine obtained an AAA rating.

Beijing Shougang actively integrates into the national "dual carbon" strategy. With the vision of building a listed steel company with world competitiveness and influence, it adheres to the two-wheel drive of "capital + operation", follows the development direction of "manufacturing + service" and continuously makes precise efforts in efficient manufacturing, high-quality manufacturing, intelligent manufacturing and green manufacturing, striving to take an ESG road in line with its own characteristics and continuously enhance its capacity for sustainable development.

Beijing Shougang has taken the lead in the exploration and practice of ultra-low emissions. It has become the first iron and steel enterprise to achieve ultra-low emissions in the whole process, maintaining A-level environmental protection performance for many consecutive years. It has obtained carbon certification from the international certification body SGS and promoted the release of environmental product declarations (EPDs). Five types of products including oriented electrical steel and non-oriented electrical steel for new energy vehicles were selected for inclusion in the Green Design Product List of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. Beijing Shougang was selected for inclusion in the first batch of dual-carbon best practice energy efficiency benchmarking demonstration plant cultivation enterprises. It also issued its ESG Work Promotion Plan of Beijing Shougang and sustainable development report. As a result, the sustainable development ability of Beijing Shougang has been widely recognized.

Relying on the R&D system of "one institute and multiple centers", Beijing Shougang has continued to deepen the "key equipment of the country", "first-to-market products" and "original technology", making breakthroughs in a number of "bottlenecks". The world's first specialized production line of 100% thin gauge and high magnetic induction oriented electrical steel has been built, and two high magnetic induction oriented electrical steel products and one non-oriented electrical steel product for new energy vehicles have been launched globally. Non-oriented high-strength products have been applied to the first 300 MW Variable Speed Pumped Storage Motor Development Project of the National Energy Administration. Shougang's oriented electrical steel has passed the evaluation of the UHV DC converter transformer panel, realizing the full coverage of UHV AC and DC application fields. The sales volume of ultra-thin gauge high magnetic induction oriented electrical steel (0.2 mm and below) remains top in China.
