On the morning of October 15th, the official opening ceremony of the new outpatient and emergency building of Peking University Shougang Hospital was held in the building’s lecture hall. The event was participated in by Liu Juncai, Director of the Beijing Municipal Health Commission; Academician Qiao Jie, member of the Standing Committee of the Peking University Party Committee and Executive Vice President and Director of Peking University Health Science Center; Chang Wei, Secretary of the Shijingshan District Committee; Hu Xiongguang, Deputy Secretary of the Shougang Group Party Committee; Shen Jian, Deputy Head of Shijingshan District; Ge Qiang, Vice Chairman of the Shijingshan District Political Consultative Conference and Secretary and Director of the District Health Commission Party Committee; Xiao Yuan, Deputy Director of the Peking University Health Science Center; Zhao Tianyang, Deputy General Manager of the Shougang Group; and leaders and guests from the Shougang Fund Company, Shouyi Medical Health Investment Management Co., Ltd., participating units of the new outpatient and emergency building, and brother hospitals.

With a recital of the poem The Original Heart of the Doctor by Wang Lei, a representative of the medical staff at Peking University Shougang Hospital, the formal opening ceremony began.

Academician Qiao Jie, on behalf of the Peking University Health Science Center, expressed her sincere and warm congratulations on the achievements made in the construction and development of Peking University Shougang Hospital. She pointed out that the Peking University Health Science Center will continue to support the development of Peking University Shougang Hospital, maintain close cooperation with the Shougang Group, constantly make innovations to the cooperative hospital management model and continue to create a model of cooperation between "international famous schools" and "international famous enterprises". She hopes that Peking University Shougang Hospital, facing the historic opportunity of the official opening of the new building, can achieve a higher level and broader development, and make greater contributions to the national health cause.

Hu Xiongguang pointed out that Peking University Shougang Hospital should take the official opening of the new outpatient and emergency building as an opportunity to further strengthen its cooperation with Peking University, actively introduce high-quality medical resources, strengthen communication and cooperation in medical technology, continuously improve the medical level and service quality, and make new and greater achievements with continuous innovation ability and the tenacious spirit of struggle, thereby providing patients with better, more efficient, safer, more standardized and more humanized medical services.

Led by Leng Jianjun, Director of Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery of Peking University Shougang Hospital, and Wang Ling, Head Nurse of the Geriatrics Department, the representatives of young and middle-aged doctors and nurses in the hospital recited the Chinese Doctor Oath and Chinese Nurse Oath together. The powerful oaths further stimulated the sense of professional mission and responsibility among the medical staff as they expressed their initial intention to remain unwavering in their ideals and beliefs, and protect the health of the people.

Nie Zhenjiang, a resident from the Jinding Street Community, spoke as a patient representative. It is understood that the new outpatient and emergency building covers a total construction area of about 53,000 m2, with 13 floors above ground and 3 floors underground, integrating outpatient, emergency, medical technology and science and education functions. After the official opening, the building will provide basic medical services, difficult and severe treatment, tumor radiotherapy and chemotherapy, high-risk maternal diagnosis and treatment, trauma emergency treatment, etc. It has a complete auxiliary examination department and abundant advanced medical equipment, providing a strong guarantee for high-quality medical safety. In particular, the Cancer Radiotherapy and Chemotherapy Center is equipped with the world's most advanced spiral tomography radiotherapy system, which can treat malignant tumor patients efficiently and accurately, improving the functional chain of Peking University Shougang Hospital as the largest tumor management medical institution in the western Beijing area, and providing higher quality and stronger medical support for group visits.
