Shougang LanzaTech's Industrialization of Continuous Gas Fermentation Integration Technology Attracts Attention of Foreign Media

A few days ago, Prince William and Princess Catherine arrived in Boston to attend the second awards ceremony of the Earthshot Prize, which was established by Prince William in 2021. The winners can use the prize of GBP 1 million to promote related projects. LanzaTech NZ Inc. stood out from among more than 1,000 nominees to become one of the 15 finalists for the second Earthshot Prize. Jennifer Holmgren, CEO of LanzaTech and Vice President of Shougang LanzaTech, said in an interview with CBS News, "Shougang LanzaTech, as a partner of LanzaTech NZ Inc., has successfully realized the industrialization and large-scale application in integrated technology of continuous gas bio-fermentation through the continuous R&D of biological fermentation and other technical links." This indicates that Shougang LanzaTech is the only enterprise to realize industrialization in integrated technology of continuous gas bio-fermentation in related fields at present, and has drawn abundant attention and high recognition worldwide by virtue of its industry status. At present, Shougang LanzaTech's bioethanol is not only used as ethanol gasoline, but also widely used in aviation fuel, daily cleaning products, perfume manufacturing, polyester yarn and other fields through deep processing after being exported.

As a leading enterprise in the bio-manufacturing industry, Shougang LanzaTech has developed and completed gas synthesis bio-integration technology over more than ten years. This process converts industrial tail gas containing CO and CO2 into high-value-added products such as bioethanol and feed protein, and directly converts inorganic carbon and nitrogen into organic carbon and nitrogen, thus reshaping the industrial system. To date, applications have been filed for more than 200 national patents in total, including more than 80 invention patents. Industrialization projects have been implemented in Hebei, Ningxia and Guizhou, three of which have been put into production and one of which is still under construction, with a production capacity of 210,000 tons of bioethanol and 23,000 tons of feed protein.
