At the recently held 2020–2021 China Construction Engineering Luban Prize & Industry Technology Innovation Conference, the Phase II One-step Project of Shougang Jingtang United Iron & Steel Co., Ltd. - Ironmaking and Coking Project led by the Shougang Construction Group won the 2021 China Construction Engineering Luban Prize; and its Comprehensive Technology for Functional Transformation and Upgrading of Old Industrial Building Facilities and Ecological Transformation and Renewal won the 2021 Top Ten New Technology Innovation Certificate of the China Construction Industry Association.

The Phase II One-step Project of Shougang Jingtang United Iron & Steel Co., Ltd. - Ironmaking and Coking Project was constructed by the Jingtang Company, supervised by the Chengxin Engineering Supervision Company, designed by the Shougang Engineering Company and jointly undertaken by the Shougang Construction Group, China MCC22 Group Corporation Ltd., China First Metallurgical Group Co., Ltd., China MCC5 Group Corp. Ltd. and Ansteel Construction Group Ltd. Adhering to the development concept of "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets", the project focused on building green steel and creating a demonstration benchmark for green development and green manufacturing. Following the design concepts of "high efficiency and low consumption, energy saving and emission reduction, clean and environmentally friendly, circular economy, low-carbon smelting and intelligent, intensive and green development", it has built one new 5,500 m3 super-large blast furnace, two 7.63 m super-large coke ovens and related supporting facilities, with technical equipment reaching the international leading level.

This is a key project for capacity replacement and upgrading in the national steel industry. During its construction, 26 patents were formed through independent technological innovation, including eight invention patents and 18 utility model patents. It has also won three provincial and ministerial technology awards, eight construction methods and five QC achievements, as well being named a New Technology Application Demonstration Project and Green Construction Application Demonstration Project in Hebei Province. In addition, it won the First Prize for Excellent Design Achievements in China's Metallurgical Industry, Quality Structural Engineering Award in the Metallurgical Construction Industry, Engineering Quality Excellence Award in the Metallurgical Industry, First Prize for Excellent Welding Engineering from the China Welding Association, etc.

Comprehensive Technology for Functional Transformation and Upgrading of Old Industrial Building Facilities and Ecological Transformation and Renewal is an active and beneficial research and exploration project of the Shougang Construction Group which adheres to the enterprise spirit of "pragmatic innovation and the pursuit of excellence". This project grasped the opportunity of the Beijing Winter Olympics to promote the transformation and upgrading of Shougang's old industrial parks, and carry out the comprehensive, systematic and high-intensity transformation and renewal of old industrial relics and building facilities.

To form this project, the Shougang Construction Group actively responded to the national green development concept of achieving the "Dual Carbon Goals" and the development strategy of the "14th Five-Year Plan" regarding implementing urban renewal actions; promoting urban spatial structure optimization and quality improvement; increasing technological R&D and independent innovation; closely focusing on the development orientation of traditional industrial green transformation and upgrading demonstration zones; highlighting the coordinated development concepts of innovative, reparative, vital, green and people-oriented; driving the industrial structure and urban function reconstruction; accelerating the transformation and development of old industrial parks; and building technical capabilities and accumulating experience and achievements.

It is understood that the conference solemnly commended 246 Luban Prize projects and released the top ten technological innovations of the year.

The China Construction Engineering Luban Prize (National Prime-quality Project), commonly referred to as the "Luban Prize", is selected every two years. Guided by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of the People's Republic of China and implemented by the China Construction Industry Association, it is the highest honor award for engineering quality in China's construction industry. It is mainly awarded to all kinds of new (expanded) construction projects that have been completed and put into use in China, with quality reaching the national leading level. The winning units are the main contractors and participating units of winning projects.

The selection of the "Top Ten Technological Innovations of China Construction Industry Association" aims to fully implement the innovation-driven development strategy, promote technological innovation in the industry, accelerate the popularization and application of scientific and technological innovation achievements, and improve the innovation capability and international competitiveness of the industry. The ten most innovative and representative technologies are selected annually and released at the "Top Ten Technological Innovations in the Industry" event organized by the China Construction Industry Association.
