Recently, the unveiling ceremony of “Capital Craftsman College” was held in Shougang Technician College under the theme “Welcoming the 20th National Congress and Building the Future with Ingenuity”. Yang Yudong, member of the Leading Party Group of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions, and Zhang Liang, Secretary of the Leading Party Group and Vice President of the Beijing Federation of Trade Unions, jointly raised a welding gun to unveil “Capital Craftsman College” by clicking the solder joint. Wang Jingdong, member of the Leading Party Group and Vice President of the Beijing Federation of Trade Unions, presided over the unveiling ceremony, and Qiu Yinfu, Deputy Party Secretary and President of the Shougang Group Trade Union, delivered a speech. The unveiling ceremony was attended by relevant leaders of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions, National Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Education, Beijing Federation of Trade Unions, Shougang Group and Shougang Technician College, and participated in by craftsmen, teachers and students as representatives of Shougang Technician College. 

Founded in 1954 as the cradle of Shougang’s training for high-skilled talents, Shougang Technician College was honored as an “Outstanding Contribution Unit of National Skilled Personnel Training” by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security of the People’s Republic of China. The college successively completed construction projects for the National High-skilled Personnel Training Base in the first and second batches, and served as the National Training Base for Welding and other categories in the 45th and 46th World Skills Competitions, with contestants training here going on to win gold medals. In recent years, Shougang Technician College has paid attention to the roles of enterprise craftsmen and model workers, and held several training sessions such as the Shougang Craftsman Lecture Hall, Advanced Study and Training for Technicians, Advanced Study and Training of Innovation Ability in Studios and Advanced Study and Training for Operation Experts, playing an important supporting role in the team construction of industrial workers in enterprises.

Qiu Yinfu expressed his heartfelt thanks to the leaders for their long-term concern, guidance and assistance regarding Shougang’s work. He said that Shougang Technician College was named “Capital Craftsman College“ by the Beijing Federation of Trade Unions, which affirms and encourages the team construction and reform of Shougang’s industrial workers. The college will push forward the team construction and reform of Shougang’s industrial workers with greater efforts and more practical measures, and strive to run “Capital Craftsman College” well.

Wang Wenhua, a teacher specializing in welding at Shougang Technician College and head of the “National Skill Master Studio”, said excitedly, “The unveiling of ‘Capital Craftsman College’ at Shougang has made me feel full of confidence and greater strength. In the future, I’ll continue to work hard to instill ingenuity, cultivate craftsmen and produce high-quality products, ensuring that the craftsmanship spirit can be passed down from generation to generation in enterprises, and more excellent welding talents can be trained for Shougang and society to help China’s high-end manufacturing industry.” Liu Boqiang, a model worker in Beijing City and an ice maker at the Shougang Park Sports Center, said, “As an industrial worker in the new era, looking back on my growth experience, I never really felt that there was such a close connection between myself and national development and state affairs. I will devote myself to the guarantee work of China’s ice and snow sports in the post-Winter Olympics era with more enthusiasm and initiative, carry forward the spirit of model workers, laborers and craftsmen, and contribute all my strength to the great development of China’s ice and snow sports and Shougang Park.”

After the unveiling ceremony, Yang Yudong and other leaders inspected the smart home training base, intelligent manufacturing training base, virtual reality technology training base and safety production training school of Shougang Technician College.
