Lately, the “Big Air Shougang” project contracted by Shougang Construction won the “Luban Prize for China Construction Projects (National Quality Projects) in 2022–2023” awarded by the China Construction Industry Association, making it the third consecutive year in which Shougang Construction has won the highest honor in the national industry.

Big Air Shougang, also known as “Snow Flying Apsaras”, is the first ski jump venue to be permanently preserved and used in the world, and the first competition venue directly combined with the reuse of industrial heritage in the history of the Winter Olympic Games. During the Beijing Winter Olympic Games, Chinese athletes Gu Ailing and Su Yiming won two gold medals at Big Air Shougang, making this venue where four events were held a “blessed place of two gold medals”. Thomas Bach, President of International Olympic Committee, said, “It has achieved the perfect integration of competition venue, reuse of industrial heritage and urban renewal. I paid close attention for more than seven years and witnessed the birth of this great building.”

The R&D achievement “Construction Technology for Large-span Special-shaped Steel Structure Ski Jump Platform” reached the international leading level. The project has successively won first prize for “Outstanding Achievements in Engineering Design in the Metallurgical Industry” of the China Metallurgical Construction Association, “China Steel Structure Gold Award Project” of the China Steel Construction Society, first prize for “National Excellent Welding Projects” of the China Metallurgical Construction Association, “Excellent Achievement Award in Engineering Quality in the Metallurgical Industry”, “High-Quality Structural Engineering Award in the Metallurgical Industry”, “Application of Ten New Technologies in the Construction Industry” and “Evaluation of Independent Innovation Technology” of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, bronze award at the “Youlu Cup” National BIM Technology Competition and “Beijing Green Safety Model Site”.

Previously, the project “Reconstruction of Xishi Winter Olympics Plaza in Shougang Old Industrial Area” contracted by Shougang Construction won the National Quality Project Award, and Shougang Construction won the National Quality Project Award and Luban Prize for China Construction Projects (National Quality Projects) for the project “Phase II One-step Project Multi-mode Full Continuous Casting and Rolling Production Line of Shougang Jingtang United Iron & Steel Co., Ltd.” and “Phase II One-step Project Ironmaking and Coking of Shougang Jingtang United Iron & Steel Co., Ltd.” respectively.

This is the first time that Shougang Construction has won the Luban Prize for a civil project, which marks that its construction technology and quality have reached a new level in the field of civil construction projects, and its strength has been continuously enhanced, effectively boosting the influence and competitiveness of the Group in the field of long-span steel structure construction.
