A few days ago, the signing ceremony of a co-construction agreement between the Shougang Group, University of Science and Technology Beijing and BAIC Group regarding the "Joint Laboratory for the Development and Application of Low-carbon and High-performance Automotive Steel", and the unveiling ceremony of the laboratory, were held at the University of Science and Technology Beijing. They were attended by Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering Xie Jianxin, Director of the Beijing Advanced Innovation Center for Materials Genome Engineering Mao Xinping, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and President of the Innovation Research Institute for Carbon Neutrality of the University of Science and Technology Beijing Yang Renshu, President of the University of Science and Technology Beijing Zhao Minge, Deputy Party Secretary, Director and General Manager of the Shougang Group Gong Yueqiong, Deputy General Manager of BAIC Group and responsible persons of relevant units of the University of Science and Technology Beijing, Shougang Group and BAIC Group. The ceremony was presided over by Liu Xuefeng, Dean of the Institute of Science and Technology of the University of Science and Technology Beijing.

Yang Renshu said that the University of Science and Technology Beijing has a solid foundation for cooperation with Shougang and BAIC. He hopes that the three parties will regard the joint laboratory as the carrier, fully mobilize their resources, actively integrate the innovation needs of enterprises and the supply of superior disciplines in schools, and jointly build a well-known integrated scientific research innovation and application platform in China.

Zhao Minge said that Shougang has maintained good cooperative relations with the University of Science and Technology Beijing and BAIC for a long time. He hopes that the industry-university-research team will not forget the original intentions, keep the mission in mind, give full play to the respective advantages of schools and enterprises through this joint laboratory, enhance the effectiveness of innovation and accelerate the efficient R&D and industrial application of low-carbon and high-performance automotive steel technology.

Gong Yueqiong said that he hopes to allocate outstanding talents and high-quality projects together, carry out all-round technical cooperation and personnel training, undertake major national, provincial and municipal projects in combination with the national strategic needs, and accelerate the transformation of scientific and technological achievements through building this joint laboratory.

Mao Xinping introduced the relevant situation of the joint laboratory. Mao Xinping along with the First Vice President of the Shougang Institute of Technology Zhu Guosen and President of the BAIC Research Institute Wang Lei signed a co-construction agreement for the joint laboratory on behalf of the University of Science and Technology Beijing, Shougang Group and BAIC Group respectively.
