Shougang Group Named Outstanding Contribution Collective, and Shougang Employees Li Gang and Pan Xiaozhi Named Outstanding Contribution Individuals

On April 8th, at the Summary and Commendation Conference for the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games, the CPC Central Committee and State Council named the Shougang Group “Outstanding Contribution Collective of the Beijing Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games” and named Shougang employees Li Gang and Pan Xiaozhi “Outstanding Contribution Individuals of the Beijing Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games”. The commendation conference was attended by award-winning representatives Zhang Gongyan, Party Secretary and President of the Shougang Group, and Shougang employees Li Gang and Pan Xiaozhi.

As the official urban renewal service partner of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games, Shougang regarded providing services to guarantee the Winter Olympic Games according to the decision-making and deployment requirements of the Municipal Party Committee and Government as a glorious and important political task of the whole group, gathered its resources and made every effort to ensure such services with a high sense of responsibility, mission and urgency. Relying on the rich industrial heritage resources in Shougang Park and the transformation of representative industrial heritage sites via “inheriting the old and establishing the new”, it successively completed the construction of competition and non-competition venues such as the Office Area of the Organizing Committee for the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games, Shougang Park National Winter Sports Training Center and Big Air Shougang, realizing the new mode of making huge changes to old buildings and promoting regional industrial revival with unique industrial characteristics. During the Winter Olympic Games, Big Air Shougang surprised the world and Shougang Park attracted global attention, demonstrating the brand-new image of the transformation and development of Shougang Old Industrial Zone. Shougang drew upon the strength of the whole group, coordinated the professional strength of all relevant units and established the “Shougang Group Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games Operation Support Command Department” to ensure the safe and stable operation of “one stadium, one headquarters, four centers and multiple teams”, and successfully guarantee the events. Chinese athletes competing in events held at Shougang Park won three gold medals, one silver medal and one bronze medal.

Li Gang is the Party Branch Secretary of the Shougang Park Service Company’s Winter Olympic Games Property Business Division. After the Organizing Committee settled in Shougang Park in 2016, he led the staff to build a steel team and iron team, and always regarded providing services to guarantee the Winter Olympic Games as the highest political task. All the staff members of the division are political and responsible, with the capacity to endure hardships and the courage to fight. Based on the requirements of “not stopping for one moment, not making a mistake in one step and not delaying for one day”, they provided all-round services such as daily offices, conference reception, venue training, event operation and activity guarantee for the Organizing Committee, Winter Sports Training Center and Big Air Shougang with high standards, quality and efficiency. They fully combined Shougang’s spirit with the Olympic spirit, formed a “full-cycle, one-stop and customized” service system, adhered to strict, precise, meticulous and practical working standards and the “5341” fast service mechanism, perfectly undertook all the work, successfully completed the Freeski and Snowboard World Cup, Mascot Press Conference for the Beijing Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games and other major events and international conference services more than 300 times, and successfully completed the national training service guarantee tasks for athletes such as figure skating and short-track speed skating in the last four years.

Pan Xiaozhi is the Planning Designer of the Capital Development Investment Company’s Big Air Project Coordination Department and Manager of the Big Air Shougang Venue Operation Team’s Communication Center. From 2017, he witnessed the development of Big Air Shougang from planning and site selection to completion, and became a member of the Venue Management Department of the Organizing Committee in 2020, mainly participating in the whole process from the operation planning stage to the prepared stage, and contributing to the “wonderful, outstanding and extraordinary” 2022 Winter Olympic Games and the successful operation of Big Air Shougang. At the prepared stage, as he was in one of the first batches of team members to arrive at the venue, Pan Xiaozhi was mainly engaged in the related work of venue management business at Big Air Shougang, assisted the secretary general of the venue to assemble the venue team, coordinated the team to formulate the venue operation plan according to the requirements of the International Olympic Committee and experience gained from previous Olympic Games, accurately framed all the operation tasks, resource elements and personality plans in spatial and temporal dimensions, and completed the operation plan in a streamlined and optimized way, laying a firm foundation for the team to organize relevant drills.

In an interview, Li Gang said that he was extremely excited and honored to attend this summary and commendation conference at the site. Listening to the General Secretary’s important speech deeply educated and encouraged him. He will take this as the driving force to further consolidate his service level, give full play to the service advantages of the park, do a good job in park services in the post-Winter Olympics era, and make his due contributions to the development of Shougang Park.
