On February 21st, the SSAC Winter Sports Management Center sent a letter of thanks to the Shougang Group for successfully providing training and preparation services for the national short track speed skating, figure skating, curling and ice hockey teams of the Beijing Winter Olympic Games.

It reads, “In promoting the development of winter sports in our country and successfully completing the training and preparation for the Beijing Winter Olympics, the Shougang Group, with a high degree of political responsibility and sense of historical mission, embraced problems with great passion, due diligence and the greatest of efforts. It provided a powerful guarantee for realizing “participation in all events” and “brilliance in competition”, playing an important role and making positive contributions! Here, we would like to extend our high respect to your group and express our heartfelt thanks!”

In this Winter Olympics, the teams that trained at the National Winter Sports Training Center in Shougang Park won three gold, one silver and one bronze medals. Big Air Shougang even witnessed the birth of two gold medals for the Chinese team, which raised the excitement and pride of the support team and all Shougang people. Before the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Winter Olympics and Paralympics settled in Shougang Park, silos which previously stored iron-making materials were transformed into office areas, and the clean coal workshop became the ice sports training base for China’s national team. Based on its high-standard industrial heritage, Shougang built an ice training base in line with Winter Olympic and Paralympic standards, and the world’s first big air venue to be permanently preserved and used… Through more than 2,000 days and nights of hard work, as well as selfless dedication and strong responsibility, Shougang cadres and workers strived to show their excellent services and support for the Winter Olympics, winning great praise from the community. In June 2018, the national teams of short track speed skating, figure skating, curling and ice hockey successively came to Shougang to train. Over more than 1,300 days and nights, Shougang’s support team spared no efforts to guarantee the training of the national teams at any time. From the start of the Beijing Winter Olympics, the Shougang Group and SSAC Winter Sports Management Center worked together in depth on venue planning and construction, service assurance and “sports plus” industry development, achieving a series of exciting and fruitful results.

The satisfactory conclusion of the Beijing Winter Olympics and the superb skills, tenacity and excellence of the Chinese athletes have vividly illustrated the Chinese sportsmanship and Olympic spirit, injecting powerful positive energy into the Year of the Tiger. After the Winter Olympics, the Shougang Group will further deepen its cooperation with the SSAC Winter Sports Management Center, employing the National Winter Sports Training Center in Shougang Park, Big Air Shougang and other venues to better support high-quality training and high-level competition.
