Recently, the Jingtang Company’s resource comprehensive utilization products, namely the total solid waste cementing material and baking-free brick, were successfully applied and passed the acceptance inspection at Venue No. 13 (Venue W4) and the square at the south entrance of the China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) venues in Shougang Park.

The total solid waste cementing material is produced by the Jingtang Company’s Circular Economy Center by grinding solid waste resources such as metallurgical slag generated in the process of iron and steel smelting. The material is a solid waste resource comprehensive utilization product developed by the Circular Economy Center, University of Science and Technology Beijing, Shougang Research Institute of Technology and other units after two years of R&D. Compared with traditional Portland cement, this product can meet the strength requirements of P.O42.5 cement. Since its production process requires no high-temperature calcination, the CO2 emissions of total solid waste cementing material production are only 160 kg per ton, which can achieve CO2 emission reduction of 690–849 kg compared with traditional Portland cement. 

The baking-free brick is a green building material developed by the Jingtang Company. Total solid waste cementing material is used as a binder to produce common concrete blocks, including standard bricks, square bricks, lawn bricks and curbs, which can meet the strength requirements of C30–C60.

Due to the tight schedule, heavy workload and high requirements of venue facility construction, all units of the Group cooperated efficiently. The Shougang Research Institute of Technology quickly organized Shougang Engineering, Jingtang Company, Shougang Construction, University of Science and Technology Beijing and other units to formulate technical plans and conduct special research demonstration, thereby providing technical support for the timely delivery of the products. The Jingtang Company attached great importance to this project, assigning special personnel from the Circular Economy Center to be responsible for the raw material preparation, production process, quality testing, road transportation and other links of the total solid waste cementing material so as to ensure that all arrangements were implemented and feedback was received. Through the joint efforts of all units, more than 150 tons of total solid waste cementing material and 190,000 baking-free bricks have been supplied and used for construction, and all indicators have reached or exceeded the design standards, thereby smoothly passing the project’s acceptance inspection. 

The total solid waste cementing material has an application area of 3,000 m2 on the floor of Venue No. 13 of CIFTIS Shougang Park, with a compressive strength reaching 46 MPa, which is 1.5 times the design strength. At the same time, cement consumption was reduced by about 160 kg for every m3 of concrete, reducing the cost by RMB 17 per m3. In the square at the south entrance of the park, 190,000 baking-free square bricks made of total solid waste cementing material cover an area of 17,000 m2, and the product performance has reached the designed strength requirement of C40.
