Awards List of 27th National Enterprise Management Modernization Innovation Achievements Shougang Wins Awards for Three Management Achievements

Recently, organized by the Assessment Committee for National Enterprise Management Modernization Innovation Achievements, the awards list of the 27th National Enterprise Management Modernization Innovation Achievements was announced, and the Shougang Group won three awards.

After preliminary examinations by relevant experts from institutions of higher learning, scientific research institutions and enterprise groups, the list was publicized on the official website of China Enterprise Confederation and finally reviewed by the Assessment Committee for National Enterprise Management Modernization Innovation Achievements. The three achievements that stood out and were respectively awarded the second prizes were “Strategic Adjustment of Large Enterprise Groups Around Two Main Businesses” by the Shougang Group’s Strategic Development Department; “Ultra-low Emission Management of Large Steel Enterprises to Achieve the Coordinated Improvement of Environmental Protection and Economic Benefits” by Shougang Jingtang; and “Peer Benchmarking Management of Metallurgical Mining Enterprises based on Deep Data Mining” by Shougang Mining.

The Strategic Development Department’s “Strategic Adjustment of Large Enterprise Groups Around Two Main Businesses” features the following major innovations: it adopts the scientific theories of the Boston Matrix, parenting advantage and cycle mismatch to analyze the industry focus; constructs an industrial ecological cycle with advances and setbacks in strategic orientation; and establishes an annual management system based on strategic decoding. Since its relocation, the Shougang Group has entered a new period of transformation and development. The Municipal Party Committee and Government require Shougang to be the pioneer of the reform of state-owned enterprises and the vanguard of high-quality development, build a world-class comprehensive large-scale enterprise group and become the banner of the transformation and development of traditional industries in Beijing. Shougang takes the initiative to meet the needs of state-owned enterprises for high-quality development in the new era, the needs of functional orientation in the capital city and the needs of its own transformation and development, adheres to the development strategy of “one pole carries two ends” and clearly focuses on iron and steel, parks, new industries and the integration of industry and finance in order to build a healthy and sustainable industrial portfolio. In addition, Shougang has also 1) accelerated its “slimming fitness”, firmly withdrawn from non-strategic business and concentrated its resources to strengthen its main business; 2) optimized its resource allocation to ensure that limited resources are preferentially distributed in important areas of the Group’s development strategy; 3) used the “two-wheel drive” mechanism of technological and management innovation to enhance its endogenous industrial development power; and 4) conducted quality, efficiency and power transformations to continuously enhance the Group’s vitality, innovation and competitiveness.

Shougang Jingtang’s “Ultra-low Emission Management of Large Steel Enterprises to Achieve the Coordinated Improvement of Environmental Protection and Economic Benefits” systematically expounds upon the methods and paths that it explored and accumulated after long-term operation and management practice. It takes the stable achievement of ultra-low emissions as the bottom line and continuously improves the efficiency and development quality objectives, providing valuable references for the improvement of environmental management in the transformation and development process of the steel industry. According to the policy of “source control, process control and system control”, Shougang Jingtang has consistently adhered to the environmental protection concept of “making green steel ensures survival and promotes development”, constantly improved its environmental protection orientation and shifted the center of its environmental management from pollution control to environmental quality improvement. By means of the “two-wheel drive” mechanism of technological and management innovation, Shougang Jingtang has continuously improved its refined management, comprehensively promoted environmental control and tapped the potential for efficiency improvement, thereby advancing towards economic efficiency on the basis of achieving stable environmental targets, exploring a path of high-quality development guided by low-carbon, circular and green development, promoting the simultaneous implementation of green development and efficiency improvement, and achieving the double harvests of environmental and economic benefits.

Shougang Mining’s “Peer Benchmarking Management of Metallurgical Mining Enterprises based on Deep Data Mining” adopts the “two-wheel drive” mechanism of technological and management innovation, and performs real benchmarking through the deep combination of information technology and modern management, not only achieving the goals of raising its index level, improving its ranking in the industry and improving its market competitiveness, but also driving the benchmarking management reform of the whole metallurgical mining industry, ultimately accomplishing the goal of enterprises driving the progress of the industry.

The assessment of the National Enterprise Management Modernization Innovation Achievements was first carried out in 1990 with the approval of the former Enterprise Management Steering Committee and Production Committee of the State Council, and all awarded achievements are at the national level. The 27th National Enterprise Management Modernization Innovation Achievements intensively displays the new features, trends and models of enterprise management in China, providing references for related government departments in the formulation of relevant policies, successful experience for other enterprises to learn from and practical cases for universities and research institutions in conducting the scientific research and teaching of enterprise management.
