Recently, 21 model workers and 3 model teams from Shougang were respectively commended by Beijing Municipality, Guizhou Province and Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. 

During the Beijing Commendation Conference for Model Workers, Advanced Workers and People's Best Civil Servants held on December 22, 17 employees and 3 units from Shougang won the title of "Model Worker" and the title of "Model Group" respectively. 17 model workers from Beijing include: Cheng Hongquan, Chief Operator of the Blast Furnace Zone, Iron Operation Division, Beijing Shougang Co., Ltd.; Zheng Tianran, Assistant to General Manager, Marketing Center North China Branch, Beijing Shougang Co., Ltd.; Chen Xiang, steelmaker from the Steelmaking Operation Division, Shougang Jingtang Company; Wang Tao, welder from the Shougang Mining Xieli Company; Zhang Bingcheng, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Beijing Shougang International Engineering Technology Co., Ltd.; Su Guangchao, Level II Chief Designer of the BSIET Metallurgical Engineering Branch; Qiu Junqing, Party Branch Secretary of the Electrical Installation Project Division, Beijing Shougang Construction Group No. 2 Metallurgical Construction Engineering Branch; Mao Jian, electrical debugging team leader, Qian’an Steel Electrical Installation and Overhaul Project Division, Beijing Shougang Construction Group No. 2 Metallurgical Construction Engineering Branch; Cui Fengling, Deputy Chief Engineer of Beijing Shougang Automation Information Technology Co., Ltd.; Zhou Ting, Architectural Designer from the Planning & Design Division, Beijing Shougang Construction Investment Co., Ltd.; Liu Boqiang, ice making and removing worker from Shougang Park Sports Center; Jiang Jinyu, commentator from the Olympic Winter Games Property Management Business Division of Shougang Park; Zhu Zhenzhong, Second Party Branch Secretary of the Outpatient Department, Deputy Director of the Outpatient Department, Director of the Emergency Department, Shougang Hospital; Xu Limin, coach of the basketball club, Shougang Sports Center; Liu Kun, Chief Researcher of the Technology Institute; Li Zhenrui, Director of the Materials Research Institute, Beijing Beiye Functional Materials Corporation; and Wang Weimin, robot debugging worker from the Anchuan Robot Engineering Division. The three model collectives in Beijing are China Shougang International Trade & Engineering Corporation, Control Business Unit of Beijing Shougang Automated Information Technology Co., Ltd., and Big Air Event Coordination Department of Beijing Shougang Construction Investment Co., Ltd., respectively. 

At recent commendation conferences for model workers and advanced workers in Guizhou Province and Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, three employees from Shougang Shuicheng Iron & Steel (Group) Co., Ltd. ("Shougang Shuigang") and one employee from Shougang Yili Steel Co., Ltd. ("Shougang Yigang") were awarded with the title of "model worker". The three model workers from Guizhou Province were Wang Wanbin, Section-Level Assistant of the Continuous Casting Operation Zone of the Shougang Shuigang Steel Rolling Business Unit; Xiong Xianbo, Maintenance Team Leader for the Locomotive Terminal of the Shougang Shuigang Logistics & Warehousing Business Unit; and Zhang Jiabin, a technician from the Shougang Shuigang Bohong Company Mining Branch’s Production & Supply Room, respectively; and the one model worker from the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region was Ayben Axinbai, Deputy Operation Head for Shougang Yigang’s Iron-Making Business Unit Blast Furnace Work Zone.  

After the Beijing Commendation Conference for Model Workers, Advanced Workers and People's Best Civil Servants, the Beijing Federation of Trade Unions held a press conference to introduce the selection and commendation of model workers, advanced workers, and model collectives in Beijing in 2020. When interviewed by the media, Liu Boqiang said, "The mill roller and ice maker are two completely different jobs but both require an earnest attitude and continuous improvement, as an absolute principle! Beijing 2022 is one of the major events for our Party and country. As an industrial worker in the new era, I'm honored to closely participate in such a great national development event! I do want to serve and support Beijing 2022 and sing a ‘song of ice and fire’ therein, as a Chinese ice-making craftsman!" 

The participating model workers also told journalists from Shougang News Center about their feelings and experiences at the commendation conference. Jiang Jinyu said emotionally, "I want to thank Beijing 2022 for the professional experience that it gives! Thank you Shougang for the valuable self-presentation platform that it gives! In the future, I'll continue to work hard, carry forward the spirit of model workers, and make contributions to the transformation development of Shougang." Cui Fengling said, "I'm honored to receive the title of Beijing 'model worker'. For me, it means great glory but also a heavy responsibility. 2021 is the starting point of a new journey. I'll transform today's honor into a driving force, and with it, forge ahead and work hard with no fear of difficulties, to make continuous contributions to the reform and development of Shougang!" 

Model workers, advanced workers, and model collectives in Beijing in 2020 were all selected from grass-roots, front-line and ordinary workers based on the functional construction of "four centers" and improvement of "four services" standards in Beijing and by means of bottom-up selection, level-by-level recommendation, and best-of-the-best selection. This event highlighted "high-grade, precision and advanced" industrial features of Beijing, focused on major events, activities and projects, and insisted on selection being made from grass-roots and front-line workers. At the conference, 664 model workers, 484 advanced workers, 186 model collectives, 30 "people's best civil servants", and 10 "people's best civil service collectives" were commended and granted with corresponding awards.
