On December 31, 2020, the Shougang Ski Jump Platform, adjacent to the New Shougang Bridge, was decorated with festive lights. The 2021 Beijing New Year Countdown Celebration, co-organized by the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism and the Culture and Ceremonies Department of the Beijing Organising Committee for the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games ("Beijing 2022 Organizing Committee") was staged at Shougang Park’s Ski Jump Platform. The event, themed "Shared Dream of the Nation, New Start for Beijing," celebrated the arrival of the new year with artistic performances and a light show.

As night fell, the Ski Jump Platform lit up with colorful lights. The track was converted into a big screen, which presented splendid visual effects and, set off by the brightly-lit cooling towers and setting walls erected on both sides, showed beautiful images and videos filled with rich Chinese elements.

The celebration had three parts: United Heart, Shared Dream and New Start. Each part included performances of scenes showing the ethos of Beijing people in their united efforts and enterprising spirit to create a better future together.

The spectacular song and dance performances enlivened the site with youthful energy. Cadres engaged in poverty alleviation told stories about people's sense of achievement, happiness and security in building a moderately prosperous society in all respects, giving a boost to the atmosphere. The song Set off Again, performed by the famous singer Han Lei, brought the atmosphere to a climax.

At the event, new year greetings to Beijing were sent via video by mayors of six WTCF member cities, including: Wellington, New Zealand; Seoul, South Korea; Sapporo, Japan; Nicosia, Cyprus; Machu Picchu, Peru; and Tallinn, Estonia. As midnight approached, model workers in Beijing's cultural and tourism industries, representatives of grassroots workers fighting the COVID-19 epidemic, representatives of cadres engaged in poverty alleviation, and young ice hockey players jointly launched the exciting 60-second new year countdown.

The 60-second original light show Footprint was displayed on the Ski Jump Platform and three of Shougang Park’s cooling towers, presenting the spectacular new look of the capital. When the clock struck midnight, the crowd broke out in jubilation. Everyone on site cheered and rejoiced, celebrating the arrival of 2021.

Relevant heads of the Capital Development Investment Fund (CDI Fund) and the Shougang Park Sports Center were interviewed on the spot by media, briefing them on the design and construction of the Ski Jump Platform and the transformation of Shougang Park.
