Two Peking University Shougang Hospital Scientific Research Projects Receive Special Capital Health Development Research Funding

Release Time:2021-01-04 14:20:08

Beijing’s Municipal Health Commission announced the 2020 funding list for the Special Capital Health Development Research Funding recently and two scientific research projects of Peking University’s Shougang Hospital were selected.

The two selected projects are the key “Molecular Mechanism of Recurrence and Metastasis of Stage II Colorectal Cancer and Construction of Predictive Models - a Multi-Center Clinical Study" project led by Professor Gu Jin, the dean of Peking University’s Shougang Hospital and chief expert of gastrointestinal surgery, and the independent "Prospective Cohort Study of the Predictive Value of Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Events in the Joint Assessment of Vascular Structure and Function for Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Events - the Application Value Study of Beijing Vascular Health Classification Standards" innovation project led by Professor Wang Hongyu, the vice dean of the hospital and director of the Department of Vascular Medicine. Professor Gu Jin’s project team aims to study the recurrence process of colorectal cancer from the perspective of molecular biology, explore the changes in molecular biology during the recurrence and metastasis of colorectal cancer, find possible molecular predictive markers, construct recurrence and metastasis prediction models, make up existing colorectal cancer recurrence monitoring and prediction methods to provide an efficient means for early clinical intervention to control the recurrence and metastasis rate of colon cancer, and improve the survival and prognosis of patients. Professor Wang Hongyu’s project team takes the Beijing Vascular Health Grading Standard as its guiding ideology and the blood vessel itself as the evaluation target to explore the predictive value of the joint assessment of the vascular structure and function for cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events, evaluate the predictive value of the Beijing Vascular Health Grading System, and make a comparative study with existing risk assessment systems at home and abroad to further improve the classification standard and formulate a risk prediction system suitable for Chinese people and easy to apply clinically.

The “Capital Health Development Scientific Research Project” established in 2011 is focusing on supporting applied research and applied basic research, aiming to promote the sustainable and coordinated development of the capital’s health industry, and improve the capital’s disease prevention and treatment level and overall medical and health service capabilities. Peking University Shougang Hospital receiving special scientific research funding demonstrates the hospital's scientific research strength and also reflects its attention and support to high-level teams and talents. The Peking University Shougang Hospital will continue to strengthen scientific research innovation, encourage all departments and project teams to actively apply for relevant scientific research projects, and give full play to the leading role of scientific research in talent training and discipline construction.
