With the demand of lightweight automobiles becoming a development trend, the design of BIW structural parts is becoming more and more complex. Traditional DP steel is prone to cracking in the forming process due to the lack of elongation, which cannot meet the design requirements of complex parts. Therefore, high-strength steel with higher forming capacity is needed to replace traditional DP steel. Aiming at the development trends of advanced automobile steel, Shougang remained committed to the idea of product seriation research and development. Building on its success in realizing the DH590 and DH780, which were first released in China in 2016 and 2017, Shougang continued to work hard in this area. In 2019, it successfully developed DH980 strength grade products, with the elongation increased by 16.7% compared with the traditional dual phase steel and the stamping safety margin increased by 11%.
