Recently, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security announced the ninth batch of continuing education bases for national professional and technical personnel and Shougang Institute of Technology (SIT) was listed among them. This is also another approved national education base of SIT following the continuing education base for national iron and steel industry professional and technical personnel approved in 2016.

The national-level continuing education base for professional and technical personnel is an important carrier for implementing knowledge update project for professional and technical personnel besides promoting the development of continuing education for professional and technical personnel. It is also an important platform for training high-level, urgently needed and core professional and technical personnel. For many years, Shougang Institute of Technology has dedicated great importance to the application of national-level continuing education bases for professional and technical personnel. Vocational training offices, continuing education colleges, and secondary colleges have conducted multi-party investigations and multi-party demonstrations, focusing on the "Outline of the National Mid-and-long-Term Talent Development Plan (2010-2020)” and “Implementation Plan for Knowledge Renewal Project of Professional and Technical Talents,” combined with the requirements of Shougang’s transformation and development and the overall goal of creating a new landmark for the revival of the capital city, giving full play to its advantages in serving Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei education and training, as well as the resources advantages and school-running characteristics of institute’s safe production training base in Beijing, while carefully preparing the application materials to fully display the strength and achievements of SIT in the field of continuing education for professional and technical personnel. As the No. 1 candidate unit in Beijing in 2019, SIT was nominated to participate in the audition by the Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau. After strict review procedures by experts, it was finally approved as a national-level continuing education base for professional and technical personnel.

The approval of national-level continuing education base for professional and technical personnel this time marks that Shougang Institute of Technology able to undertake major special engineering projects of the continuing education bases for national-level professional and technical personnel, hold training courses and seminars and advanced courses commissioned by government departments, industry associations, enterprises and institutions, assist in the training, assessment and management of public demand subjects or professional subjects for professional and technical personnel, carry out theoretical research on continuing education, develop targeted and effective training programs and training courses, organize continuing education exchange service activities, etc. Shougang Institute of Technology will take this as an opportunity to promote the construction of the national-level continuing education base for professional and technical personnel, actively carrying out training of national and industry high-level, urgently needed and core professional and technical personnel, and striving to build a distinctive first-class and national-level continuing education base for professional technology personnel.
