Recently, the “North Zone Detailed Planning of High-End Industry Comprehensive Service Area of the New Shougan” won the Merit Award in the Research and Planning Category of the Green Building Award 2019.

The detailed planning of north zone of Shougang takes “innovation, restoration, vitality, green and wisdom” as the core concepts and characteristics, closely combining them the new version of Beijing’s urban master plan and implements “reducing quantity, improving quality, increasing green and making space,” and designs based on “promoting the multi compliance and integration at the level of regulatory detailed planning” as the design conditions and refined management basis. The preparation of the plan is based on the “Regulatory Detailed Planning of High-End Industry Comprehensive Service Area of New Shougang” approved in 2011, combined with more than 10 special planning and research results such as Shougang's urban style, urban design and green ecology, and taking into account the implementation of north zone to carry out relevant optimization and improvement.

Integrating the practice of Shougang Park urban renewal project, this application focuses on the reuse of important industrial resources such as the West 10th Winter Olympic Square, winter training center, grand diving platform, the three blast furnaces and Xiuchi reconstruction, adheres to the planning guidance, takes the principles of inheriting culture, continuing historical memory, and creating the characteristic features of the capital as the principle, does not carry out large-scale demolition and construction, and gives new life to industrial relics through transformation and upgrading. At the same time, with the concept of green, circular, low-carbon and sustainable development, it improves the regional environmental outlook of Shougang. The detailed planning of north area has won the "Merit Award in the Research and Planning Category of the Green Building Award 2019," which is a recognition given to Shougang's planning and urban renewal project practice, in line with the theme of “excellent sustainable building environment” and lays the foundation for encouraging more development and construction of Shougang Park, creating a green, low-carbon, industry-friendly and livable environment, promoting sustainable development, and achieving the goal of “Beijing demonstration, national leading and international model.”

The award is jointly conferred by the Hong Kong Green Building Council (HKGBC) and the Professional Green Building Council (PGBC) and is held every two years. The application scope of the project includes Australia, India, Indonesia, Japan, Singapore, China, etc. The purpose of this award is to reward planning, construction, and research projects that contribute to sustainable development and the environment, as well as to encourage more extensive exploration of sustainable development planning, architectural design, construction, management, maintenance and transformation models, and promote the development of environmental protection construction in the industry. In June, the Green Building Award 2019 began to accept nominations and applications. The awards are divided into new building, existing building, research and planning, building product technology, and green building leadership. The Green Building Award 2019 with the theme of “encouraging the next generation and outstanding sustainable building environment” received positive responses from the industry, in which 89 projects were nominated, breaking the previous record of nominations, and 67 projects entered the final and competed for various categories of the awards.
