Eight Achievements of Shougang Won the Metallurgical Science and Technology Award in 2019

Recently, the Metallurgical Science and Technology Award Committee had officially announced 84 projects awarded to the Metallurgical Science and Technology Award of the China Iron and Steel Industry Association (CISA) and the Chinese Society for Metals (CSM) in 2019. One of Shougang’s endeavor was awarded as first class in metallurgical science and technology, four came in second, and three, third, making this year the best year of achievements.

Through this assessment, Shougang took the lead in submitting 14 projects, of which 8 was handsomely awarded. The "High Performance Oriented Silicon Steel Manufacturing Technology for High Efficiency and Environmental Protection Transformers" was given the first class award. Through the collaboration of the whole industry chain, the project has made significant technological innovation, developed a set of ultra-low loss control technology for the first time, solved the problem of unstable secondary recrystallization caused by surface effect, and developed three ultra-low iron loss brands such as 18SQGD060, which filled the international gap for the first time. The first integrated control technology of fine, homogeneous, and high-quality adherent to bottom layer has been developed, and the low noise integrated control technology of oriented silicon steel was developed. To the low noise brands such as 23SQGD080LN have been launched globally. After technical appraisal, China Machinery Industry Federation (CMIF) and CISA considered that the comprehensive performance of the products reached the international advanced level, and the two indices of coating adhesion and noise reached the international leading level. The products have won the titles of "Excellent Products in Metallurgical Industry" and "New Technologies and Products in Beijing". They are widely used in more than 100 well-known transformer enterprises at home and abroad, such as ABB and TEV, as well as the national UHV "Double Million" transformer, Baihetan Hydropower Station with the largest installed capacity in the world, Beijing New Airport, EGAT in Thailand, NGCP in the Philippines and other major projects.

The second class award-winning projects include "Research and Application of Long Life Technology of Copper Cooling Stave of Large Blast Furnace", "Development and Application of High Efficiency and Stable Operation Technology of 260 t/h Super Large Dry Quenching", "Key Technologies and Applications of Green High Performance Series Container Steel Plate Manufacturing", "Development and Application of Low Carbon Oxygen Accumulation Combined Blowing Operation Technology of Converter".

The third class award-winning projects were “Key Technologies for High Strength Mining in Large Geotechnical Mines”, “Research and Development and Application of Automatic Sampling and Detection System for Blast Furnace Fuel”, and “Comprehensive Construction Technology for Removal of Medium and Heavy Plate Mill System”.

The Metallurgical Science and Technology Award is established by the China Iron and Steel Industry Association and the Chinese Society for Metals. It is the highest science and technology recognition award in the iron and steel industry approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology of China. Its aim is to promote scientific and technological progress and innovation in the metallurgical industry, encourage the use of scientific and technological forces to promote the development of the metallurgical industry, and organize an annual review and award.
