North American Hockey Star Praises Shougang Hockey Hall

On August 5, Alex Ovechkin, a star from Washington Capitals of National Hockey League (NHL) paid a visit to Shougang Park. He gave thumbs-up, saying that Shougang Hockey Hall was No.1.

After visiting Xiu Pond, Shijingshan and Shougang Hockey Hall successively, Ovechkin was deeply impressed by the renovation of Shougang Park. In the hockey hall, he saw the players’ dressing room and other facilities, guided and trained the hockey teenagers. He said that the excellent facilities in Shougang Hockey Hall were top-notch in China and even in North America. It was a great honor to go to Shougang Park, and he hoped that he could take part in a hockey competition in Shougang Park.

Ovechkin, 33 years old, was born in Moscow, Russia. He played in 1,084 regular season games, scored 658 goals, and assisted for 553 times to get 1,211 points. In 2018, Ovechkin led Washington Capitals to win Stanley Cup championship, namely the League’s grand championship and his first playoff MVP award - the Conn Smythe Trophy, and he also became the first Russian captain who led a team to win the championship in the history of the League.

As the ambassador of Washington Capitals and the NHL, Ovechkin started a week-long trip to China in Beijing on August 4.
