On August 1, with the last section of the bridge slowly hoisted and placed in final enclosure part, the main structure of steel beam of the New Shougang Bridge on the west extension line of Chang'an Street in Beijing was completed, realizing the connection of steel beam.

The New Shougang Bridge is an important node project of the western extension projects of Chang'an Street, Beijing. The bridge is the world's first double-tower cable-stayed steel composite system bridge with the largest span in Beijing. It’s a five-span double-tower double cable-stayed steel composite bridge. It is designed as a two-way eight-lane road with non-motor vehicle lanes or sidewalks. It’s 54.9 meters in width and 1,354 meters in length, with the main bridge 639 meters long. At present, it is regarded the widest steel bridge in China and a steel art combining both strength and beauty.

The steel plates used for steel box girders and steel towers of the New Shougang Bridge are all supplied by Shougang. The total amount of various steel plates consumed is about 45,000 tons, a very large consumption of steel among China’s bridges. To this end, Shougang customizes production, transportation and processing to build the New Shougang Bridge with quality steel. This again shows Shougang’s capacity to supply high-performance steel for the entire bridge of domestic key municipal quality project construction.

In order to ensure the smooth construction of the New Shougang Bridge, Shougang Construction Investment Co., Ltd and other units contact and cooperate with Beijing Gonglian to carry out relevant work. Shougang Construction Investment Co., Ltd promotes the construction of the green space around the bridge and the landscape on both sides of the road, completing the design improvement of the western extension landscape of Chang'an Street. Relevant units of Shougang cooperate with Beijing Gonglian to complete the site selection of the bridge streetlight power boxes, which perfectly combine with the New Shougang Bridge and Shougang landscape.

It is reported that the New Shougang Bridge will become a landmark in western Beijing after completion, adding a new rapid access from the west of Beijing to the central downtown, and facilitating the construction and development of the Shougang Park.
