At 9:58 a.m. on July 31, the construction site of Shougang Ski Jumping Platform was roaring with machinery. Waving their arms and “dancing”, Several large cranes lifted three sections of steel beams located in different positions at the same time by using large lifting equipment and landed them steadily in the reserved position. After careful rectification, the main truss of Shougang Ski Jumping Platform was closed and connected at 15 p.m. 

The construction unit Shougang Construction Group makes every effort to do the hoisting work so to secure a one-time installation in place. In construction, because the second section of side truss is located 48.65 meters away from the ground and is basically at the highest point of large jumping platform, 630 tons of crawler crane is used to ensure safety; the tenth and eleventh section of side truss are completed by 280 tons of crawler crane and 260 tons of truck crane respectively.

In order to complete the installation work smoothly and guarantee the requirements of construction standards and accuracy, the hoisting and docking process is tracked and measured by industrial total station to ensure the axis position and spatial coordinate accuracy of components.

In order to ensure that the construction progress of Shougang Ski Jumping Platform can be realized according to the network node, the staff and workers struggle tenaciously and fight day and night.

The project manager of Shougang Construction Investment Company has visited the Hebei Leting Steel Structure Processing Base for many times to check the progress, and urged the construction unit to send the separated steel structure parts to the site for group matching. At the same time, the project manager and the construction unit organized and hoisted the completed steel structure parts according to the weather changes, so as to make flexible arrangements in varying time.

In order to organize summer construction rationally, Shougang Construction Group will adjust the working schedule by operating hoisting in the daytime and welding work at night, and equip front-line workers with cold drinks and mung bean soup, so as to ensure personal and production safety.

Shougang Skiing Jumping Platform Project is located in the southwest of Qunming Lake of Shougang Park. After completion, the original oxygen plant will be the first permanent skiing platform venue in the world. It will also be the only snow event venue in Beijing Winter Olympic Games. From January 21, 2019 to July 31, 2019, the first steel column was hoisted, and after 192 days’ effort, the whole line of steel truss was closed and hoisted. Up to now, nearly 3,000 tons of steel structure construction have been completed, and tens of thousands of welds have passed inspection and acceptance. Shougang builders are determined to overcome the difficulties brought about by weather conditions, and carry forward the spirit of craftsmanship to build the ski jumping platform into an Olympic "excellent project".
