Recently, a new type of filtration flue gas elimination technology developed by Shouke Company, a subsidiary of Shougang Environment, was successfully tested by Shougang Jingtang Company. The test results were superior to the environmental protection standards of Hebei Province and Tangshan City, which provided a new path for solving the “white plume” governance problem of the steel industry. 

Shouke Company is a high-tech company specializing in atmospheric gas treatment, such as flue gas desulfurization, denitrification, and elimination, and dust removal. It undertakes the task of air pollution control of Shougang. Since 2018, with the continuous increase of environmental protection efforts, Hebei Province and Tangshan City introduced standards for controlling colored plumes of smoke in the steel industry. All steel enterprises had successively received the task of gas elimination by relevant environmental protection departments, and the related blast furnace slag water vapor elimination project is gradually started. At the time, the common methods of gas elimination treatment mainly included flue gas heating technology, flue gas condensation technology, flue gas first condensation and then reheating technology and combination of various methods, but the implementation effects were not satisfactory.

Shouke Company researched the gas elimination treatment technology and developed a filtration gas elimination technology. The hydrophobic polymer microporous filter material was used to make the filter element, which has the advantages of high gas elimination efficiency, acid and alkali resistance, long life, and less land occupation. At the same time, ultra-fine dust can be removed to achieve ultra-low emission standards. On the basis of the successful completion of the mechanism study of the filtration gas elimination technology and the small-scale test of the air volume of 500 cubic meters per hour, Shouke Company carried out technical exchanges with the Energy and Environment Department and Iron and Steel Department of Jingtang Company at the end of 2018, and both sides decided to carry out pilot scale tests. Shouke Company invested and manufactured the pilot equipment with a handling capacity of 10,000 cubic meters per hour. It has been tested at the blast furnace of 1,000 cubic meters of Wenfeng Group and the blast furnace slag water site of 5,500 cubic meters of Jingtang Company, achieving good gas elimination effect and receiving unanimous praise from relevant units.
