In 2018, the development of Beijing Park of Shougang has entered a critical stage. Ten site restoration projects of Shougang, such as the former coke-oven plant “green axis”, desulfurization workshop, and No. 3 and No. 4 BF, have been launched one after another. Faced with the severe test of many projects and multi-point operations, Shougang Environment Company actively assimilates and absorbs international advanced technology and management experience and promotes the independent and smooth operation of the Shougang thermal desorption soil remediation project. So far, 157,000 tons of polluted soil have been disposed of by ectopic thermal desorption soil remediation in Shougang, and the restoration area of in-situ thermal desorption soil has reached 329,000 square meters.

The polluted soil restoration industry of Shougang Environment Company is strengthened in its development. Aiming at the industry’s commanding heights, it incorporates scientific and technological innovation and management to create excellence as the support and focuses on building a high-tech enterprise for restoration of polluted sites, which integrates “technology research and development and consultation, project implementation and operation management”. Over the past few years, through strengthened organization and operations management, the restoration of ectopic thermal desorption soil in Beijing Park of Shougang and the restoration of polluted sites in the old plant area of Shougang Guiyang Special Steel Co., Ltd. have remained stable, and the disposal capacity and levels have been greatly improved. Shougang Environment Company has set up relevant research and development platforms for soil restoration technology testing in industrial sites. The experiments of solidification and stabilization of heavy metals and bio-coupling chemical oxidation restoration have been carried out successively. Soil restoration technologies, such as ectopic thermal desorption, in-situ thermal desorption, cement kiln co-disposal, and electromagnetic wave thermal desorption, have been mastered. The implementation level of soil restoration projects in industrial sites has been further improved, and the transformation of key technological achievements and the implementation of industrialization projects have been promoted. Project implementation has trained the team, and valuable engineering management experience has been accumulated. The company’s industrial development is changing from production organization and operation type to engineering management type.

Up to now, with 12 patents for restoration of polluted sites, Shouhua Company has been recognized as a “Zhongguancun High-Tech Enterprise” and a “National High-Tech Enterprise” and listed as “Research Center of Soil Restoration Engineering Technologies in Industrial Polluted Sites in Beijing”. It is organizing and declaring the Engineering Technology Center for Risk Control and Restoration of Polluted Sites in the Metallurgical Industry of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment . The “Shougang model” of polluted soil restoration has laid a solid foundation for the industry of polluted soil restoration to move to a new height and realize a new leap forward in development.

The stage is as big as the dream. The staff of Shougang Environment Company is confident in expanding and strengthening the industry of polluted soil restoration. In January 2017, the project of restoring polluted sites by Shougang Guiyang Special Steel Co., Ltd. was officially started. In order to ensure the progress of the project, the cadres and staff of Guigang Project Department of Shouhua Company gave full play to their spirit of not being afraid of hardships and fighting hard battles, overcame the difficulties of complex site conditions, shortages of personnel, and bad weather, and actively coordinated with the owners, supervisors and cooperating units. Breakthroughs have been made in all the work in stages, and smooth and steady progress of the restoration work has been achieved. So far, about 218,000 cubic meters of polluted soil have been excavated, and 200,000 tons of cement kilns have been disposed of together, which has effectively guaranteed the development progress of the old plant area of Shougang Guiyang Special Steel Co., Ltd. Due to the standardization and rationality of organization and implementation, the project has been listed by Guizhou Province as a demonstration project of soil restoration, praised by the Central Environmental Protection Supervisory Group, and passed the national solid waste survey smoothly. In addition, through collaboration with Shougang Real Estate Company, we got a special state fund of 4 million yuan for site restoration of the Guigang Real Estate Development Project.

While restoring the polluted soil in Beijing Park of Shougang and Guigang, Shougang Environment Company continuously strengthens the development of the external market, actively exploits the external markets of Taiyuan Chemical Industry Group Co., Ltd. , KISC , Huangshi Donggang, Zhonghai Real Estate, and HBIS , promotes the successful cases of soil restoration in Shougang Environment Company, and demonstrates the strong technical strength of Shougang Environment Company.
