The Sea Water Desalination Project of Shougang Hierro Peru Runs Smoothly in the Whole Process

Undertaken by China Shougang International Trade & Engineering Corporation (hereinafter referred to as CSGI) under the EPS (Design-Purchase-Service) model, the “Shougang Hierro Peru 20,000 t/d Sea Water Desalination Project”, which is implemented by the Energy and Environment Branch, has been running well since the whole system was completed in July, and the water quality and quantity are stable. As of November 30, the cumulative water output has exceeded 650,000 tonnes, laying a solid foundation for the green development of Shougang Hierro Peru S.A.A.

Shougang Hierro Peru 20,000 t/d Sea Water Desalination Project is a supporting project for the new 10 million t / a mineral processing plant project of Shougang Hierro Peru. It is also an important overseas project since the establishment of Energy and Environment Branch of CSGI at the beginning of this year.

Shougang Hierro Peru 20,000 t/d Sea Water Desalination Project is to replace the original sea water with finished water as the process water for the new plant of Shougang Hierro Peru, so as to solve the problem of high content of alkali metal and chloride ion in the concentrate caused by the original sea water washing method, thus enhancing the added value of the products of Shougang Hierro Peru S.A.A. and improving the economic benefits of enterprises. In the selection of process route, according to the local sea water quality, water quality requirements and energy medium conditions in Peru, the Energy and Environment Branch finally adopted the UF+RO dual-membrane process, did research on the container modularization plan, and repeatedly optimized the module unit design assembly during the design process, realizing domestic assembly and spot connection, which not only make the space utilization more reasonable, but also reduce the site docking and civil work to the greatest extent. While solving the problem of excessive cost of overseas civil construction, the installation cycle of pipelines and equipment has also been greatly shortened. The entire ultrafiltration+ reverse osmosis process system, which produces 20,000 cubic meters of water per day, is all arranged in 26 containers. The factory covers an area of only 8,300 square meters.

Since the project team arrived in Marcona in mid April, it had adapted to the local environment, worked hard to overcome the difficulties of language, jet lag and work habits, cooperated with the construction units and suppliers and worked well with domestic design team. In the modularization of transformer and distribution units, four sets of non-standard E-house substations were responsible for all power supply and distribution. Only after integral installation on site and external wiring, they could be put into use. The whole plant is equipped with a fully automatic control system, and all process unit equipment can realize the remote control on the spot and in the main control room, and can complete the monitoring, alarm, recording and handling of the remote parameters of the whole sea water desalination plant. It is an intelligent sea water desalination plant which has realized automatic adjustment of all operation parameters.
