Recently, 27SQGD085LN and 23SQGD080LN, the oriented silicon steel products with ultra-low noise and low iron loss developed by Shougang, made their debut. The successful launch of the two products can enhance the manufacturing capacity of China’s high-grade oriented silicon steel products, promote the upgrade of transformer energy efficiency, meet the safer, more economical, cleaner and more sustainable construction requirements of national power industry, and provide important material support for the transformational development of national economy and ecological civilization construction.

In the past 40 years of reform and opening up, the economic take-off has brought about large-scale concentrated consumption of electricity. However, the loss of the power grid itself has caused more waste to power resources with transformer losses alone, accounting for 30% to 40% of the total power grid loss. It is imminent to further promote the manufacture and application of high-efficiency transformers. Called by missions, Shougang has taken many actions to aim at the new requirements for the construction of national key projects and social development, and with the social responsibility of developing more energy-efficient and environmentally-friendly products as a state-owned enterprise, Shougang, adhering to independent innovation, started the research and development of oriented silicon steel products with low iron loss and low noise.

During the research and development, by cooperating with research institutes like Central Iron & Steel Research Institute and China Electric Power Research Institute and downstream users like TBEA and BTW, the stock company closely integrated production, study, research and application to develop more energy-efficient products with lower loss and lower noise.

Presently, 27SQGD085LN has been successfully applied to large power transformers with 5% to 10% reduction in the no-load loss and 3 to 5 dB reduction in noise compared with the conventional products; 23SQGD080LN has been successfully applied to energy-saving distribution transformers with 5% to 9% reduction in the no-load loss and 2 to 5 dB reduction in noise compared with the conventional products. At a recent appraisal meeting of the high magnetic induction grain-oriented silicon steel for Shougang “Double Million” UHV large-capacity transformers, the comprehensive technical performance of Shougang's products has reached the international advanced level of similar products concerning the noise index and coating adhesion index, appraised by experts.

With independent research and development of over a decade, breaking through innovation and mastering of key technologies, Shougang has successfully developed high-magnetic-oriented silicon steel products with low loss, low noise and high adhesion by adopting high-performance homogenization of structural performance control, the fine and homogeneous comprehensive base control with high attachment and large tension and the comprehensive control of reducing noise level of oriented silicon steel, so as to provide users with higher quality, reliable, environmentally-friendly products and services with continuous improvement.
