In August 2012, Shougang took the lead in applying the recycled materials of construction waste to the laying of the roadbed connecting the park of Shougang Bioenergy Science and Technology Co. Ltd. During the road laying, Sun Lirui disregarded all kinds of discomfort in her early stage of pregnancy, closely followed up the whole process from the production, test and transportation of recycled materials of construction waste to the laying in the construction site, strictly controlled the project quality, improved the technological level and accumulated many field data and much practical experience. On November 21 of the very year, the road was formally completed. After the on-site inspection of the municipal and professional scientific research institutes, all its indexes were confirmed to fully meet the standards. It finds a new way for the resource disposal of urban construction waste.

As the construction waste project has no complete and referential theoretical basis at home, facing the low degree of market recognition, complex direction of test and application and the fact that many new industries produce construction waste, Sun Lirui leads her team to complete a series of work such as raw material test, performance evaluation and product application that the construction waste is used in excellent recycled aggregate through self-learning, active communication and technology transplantation. The team she leads successively overcomes many application problems such as the application technology of the inorganic mixture, concrete and pervious concrete of construction waste recycled aggregate and the preparation technology of high-performance excellent construction waste recycled aggregate, further deeply explores the high-value-added resource utilization way of construction waste recycled powder, applies for patents for the red brick lime-ash mix, pre-grinding and sorting of excellent aggregate, pervious aggregate concrete and new cobble brick preparation, breaks through technical routes, greatly promotes the profit level of the construction waste industry of Shougang, improves the leaping development of the environmental protection industry of Shougang and finds a feasible way for the resource disposal and the utilization of recycled products of construction waste in Beijing.

Facing the problems of slag incineration treatment of household waste in Beijing, Sun Lirui actively leads her team to do researches into the process development and experiments. On the basis of fully investigating the related processing technologies and core equipment at home and abroad, she uses the advanced equipment and the experience of processing technology related to coal preparation learning, grain, non-ferrous industry and the like for reference to do researches into the slag dry separation treatment and resource utilization, makes statistics for the early separation, test, analysis and production line design, completes and puts into operation the first stably operated pilot production line in the slag dry separation in China.
