The Chinese must produce high-precision processing parts!

Wei Jianping made preparations for a year. He first made a model with wax, measured and calculated repeatedly, and simulated the test on the computer. “Especially small holes with a diameter of 9 mm and a depth of 690 mm cannot be achieved by computer technology alone. We must have all aspects of knowledge such as mechanics, metallurgy, tool parameters, and lathing techniques. The holes are thin and deep. With slight vibration, the drill will be stuck inside.”

He used nearly 600 pieces of A4 paper to complete the programming, equivalent to a “Romance of the Three Kingdoms” plus half of “Water Margin”, but for the laymen, the dense character codes were double Dutch.

In the actual operation, Wei Jianping succeeded through the coordination of three CNC machine tools. German technician Mink smiled brilliantly. He praised Wei Jianping, “You can be an expert.”

This project won the first prize of the National Major Equipment Scientific and Technological Achievements in the 9th Five-Year Plan and also made Wei Jianping famous.

Wei Jianping does not have many hobbies in his daily life. Before the age of 45, he basically did not go out for travel. He always studied at home and improved his skills in the factory. He did not follow the path taken by others. “Although I am a technical school student, I took two paths: in operation, I become to a senior technician of CNC lathe from a junior worker; in technical titles, I took many examinations to become a technician, assistant engineer, dual engineer and metallurgical equipment manufacturing senior engineer step by step. The technical school students of our age could hardly get several academic qualifications in succession.” Wei Jianping said frankly, “I had been studying at the night school until I was 39.I have gained a lot.”

Persistent and insatiable learning and research, with the combination and sublimation of theory and practice have enabled Wei Jianping to emerge in the Chinese CNC industry, and his reputation has grown. Over the years, he has edited 11 CNC practical teaching materials for intermediate workers, senior workers and technicians, and senior technicians, which has aroused great concern in the field of CNC machine tools and related departments. he has become a senior engineer of metallurgical equipment manufacturing, senior technician of CNC lathe, CNC expert among operator technicians of CNC machining center and has served as a member of the National CNC Professional Committee  , a council member of the National CNC Equipment User Association  , a council member of the National CNC Tools Association  , a senior referee of the national and Beijing CNC skill contests, a senior reviewer and supervisor of CNC lathes in Beijing.

In the interview, we can feel Wei Jianping’s sense of pride and happiness as a CNC expert. He enjoys the sonorous mechanical sounds, the process of shaping equipment, the tacit agreement with the apprentices, and the creativity he has inspired during the work. He has also received the rewards he deserves: in 2009, the Beijing Federation of Trade Unions   and the Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission   awarded the first staff innovation studio “Wei Jianping Studio”; in 2011, he won the Shougang technical leader, the star of learning of capital citizens, the SASAC   system outstanding communist and advanced individual of national professional ethics construction; in 2012, he won the national May 1st labor medal and Shougang model worker; in 2013, the Beijing Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau   awarded the Chief Technician Studio for CNC lathes in Beijing, and rated the highly-skilled talent with outstanding contributions in Beijing; in 2014, he won the national star of learning; in 2015, he won the title of Shougang Technical Expert and the demonstration worker (model worker) innovation studio of the national mechanical metallurgy building materials system; in 2016, he was granted special government allowances from the State Council; in 2017, the All-China Federation of Trade Unions   named the National Model Labor and Artisan Talent Innovation Studio; in February 2018, the Beijing Federation of Trade Unions named the “Beijing Master Craftsman” of CNC Operator; in 2018, he won the Shougang model worker once again.
