Recently, China Iron and Steel Association held a press conference on seven first group standards, such as “Steel Wire for Automobile Seat Frame”. Among them, the group standard “Green Design Product Evaluation Specification for Non-oriented Electrical Steel for New Energy Automobile” is drafted and prepared under the lead of Shougang Group Co., Ltd. The implementation of this group standard will promote the technological innovation, quality improvement, green manufacturing and healthy development of the new energy automotive industry in the domestic electrical steel industry.

In 2017, the state revised the standardization law and formally incorporated it into the group standards. The group standard, national standard, industry standard, local standard and enterprise standard are listed as the five major standards. After Shougang Co., Ltd. took the lead in drafting the formulation task for the "Green Design Products Evaluation Specification for Non-oriented Electrical Steel for New Energy Vehicles" group standards, it quickly established a standards drafting working group to conduct a careful study of the standard framework, assessment indicators, and drafting progress. Shougang Group Co., Ltd. issued letters successively two times or went deep into iron and steel enterprises, downstream users, research institutes, colleges and universities, and other relevant units by the way of field visit, with extensive research on energy indicators, resource indicators, environmental indicators and product indicators, which provided sufficient data support for the preparation of the standard. In combination with national standards, laws and regulations and industry development trends, it extensively solicited social opinions online, listened fully to the suggestions of industry experts below the line. After repeated revisions and improvement, the group standard draft was unanimously approved. Shougang Co., Ltd. has taken steps to develop green product manufacturing standards.

The group standard “Green Design Product Evaluation Specification for Non-oriented Electrical Steel for New Energy Automobile” carries out the national policy of green manufacturing. According to the requirements of green transformation and development of the industry, it stipulates the evaluation requirements, life cycle assessment report preparation methods and evaluation methods for the green design products of non-oriented electrical steel for new energy automobile. In accordance with the concept of the full life cycle, the product design and development stage systematically considers the impact of raw materials selection, production, sales, use, recycling, processing and other aspects on the resources and environment, and strives to minimize the consumption of resources throughout the entire life cycle, which reflects the green development concepts of high quality, low consumption, low emission, no poison, long life, easy recovery and so on.

At the standard review meeting organized by the National Steel Standardization Committee, a team of 22 senior industry experts from 17 units, including China Iron and Steel Association, China Metal Society, and China Automotive Technology Research Center. It is considered that the standard drafting level of Shougang Group Co., Ltd. has reached the international advanced level. After the standard is issued and implemented, it will bring remarkable economic and social benefits, guide the green upgrade of electrical steel materials and promote the green development.
