Walking into Wang Lina’s office, she was standing at her desk, staring at the price dynamics on the computer, and greeted the reporter while replying to the e-mail. “Is it a way to ‘punish’ yourself by standing up?” asked the reporter. She smiled faintly. It turns out that sometimes it is too painful to bear the pain of lumbar disc herniation, so she has to try to increase the height of the monitor of the computer, which can alleviate the pain.

Wang Lina, from Inner Mongolia, came to CSGI after studying international economics and trade in Beijing Forestry University in 2004, and was assigned to the Trading Room of the Ore Department back then as a saleswoman. Since then, she has been working hard for 14 years in the ore industry, turning into the director of the Trading Room of Business Department of Mineral Resources of CSGI from a saleswoman.

In 2011, due to personnel adjustments, Ningbo Subsidiary of CSGI was in urgent need of a manager for foreign trade projects manager. The time was tight and the task was heavy, and it was difficult for the replacement to take place. Although her child was less than 3 years old back then, Wang Lina thought that as a communist, she should be dedicated to work, give play to her professional skills, and be brave to shoulder the responsibility, so she actively made a request to her leader in charge for working in Ningbo. “How about our child?” her husband asked anxiously. “It is a piece of cake. I’ll take the child with me.” Wang Lina replied firmly. Thus, with her child, she set out for Ningbo thousands of miles away.

After arriving in Ningbo, she was independently responsible for the importing plan, ship transportation, and formulation and execution of sales contracts of Peru mine, and the contract signing and execution of part of extra long-term mine alone, which was a large amount of business. Back then her office and dormitory were on the same floor, but she often had to work at night due to time difference with Hierro Peru. The difficulty of taking care of a young child was far beyond her expectation, so she had to resort to her parents to take care of the child with her. In about two years, her husband and other family members accumulated a thick pile of plane tickets as they came to visit her. They spent the 2012 Spring Festival with Wang Lina in Ningbo. She was quite satisfied with her parents’ love, her husband’s consideration and her child’s dependence on her. It is also because of the family's support that Wang Lina has been fully committed to her work. With her high business literacy and determination to work hard, the Ningbo subsidiary's business has been carried out in an impressive manner with her high professional attainment and tenacious determination.

In 2013, Wang Lina was transferred back to the headquarters of Mining Department of CSGI in Beijing, bringing back her work experience accumulated in Ningbo. She took the initiative to advise the leader in charge to operate work in head office, including formulation of the annual, seasonal and monthly shipment plans of Peru mine, dispatchment of ships and plan of unloading ports, which is more conducive to the overall planning and close integration of the relevant units of the Ministry. Being short of men, she took up the extra work of various important links from mine stocking, ocean shipping and external sales to customs declaration.

In 2015, Wang Lina became the director of the Trading Room through competition, and was transferred to the management post from the business post, bringing her more responsibilities but greater pressure. Ore sales is an important part for CSGI to achieve its annual business objectives, and the Trading Room is the mainstay. Leading the Trading Room team, she is racing around for ore trade and holds market analysis meeting every day to have a centralized communication with others about the influence of policies, market and industry information, regional differences, climate changes and other factors on sales of Peru mine. Sometimes, due to the changes of contracts and the uncertainty of customers, she has to continue to work at night if she can’t finish her work in the daytime. The time difference between China and Peru is 13 hours, for example, if it is 9 p.m. in Beijing, that is 8 a.m. in Peru. In most cases, she has to discuss a detail in work till midnight with others. Sometimes, after ships arrived, due to the time difference, she even has to work on weekends. It requires accurate calculation as the time limit for guaranteeing base provision is tight. If goods arrive earlier, it will be overstocked; if later, the production will be affected, making the whole department work overtime. But Wang Lina and the members in her team have never complained about that, as the team makes concerted efforts, shares the same goal and works hard to ensure the smooth progression of the Group’s iron ore trade.

In 2016, Wang Lina led the trade team to win the honor of “Shougang Advanced Department” and she was also awarded “Excellent Communist” of CSGI. In the same year, the management innovation project “To Innovate Iron Ore Sales Model Based on Evolution Rule of Iron Ore Market” she engaged in was awarded the second prize of the 31st Innovation Achievements of Modernization of Enterprise Management of Beijing City. “I will carry forward the spirit of Shougang and strive to advance.” said Wang Lina proudly and firmly.
