The first “Beijing Grand Craftsman” list was formally announced by the Beijing Federation of Trade Unions on April 9. Wei Jianping, a CNC machine tool operator of Beijing Shougang Machinery & Electric Co., Ltd., won the title of the “Beijing Grand Craftsman” and has aroused widespread concern in the social media.

On April 20, reporters from the newspaper offices including the “Worker’s Daily,” “Beijing Daily,” and “Beijing Development and Construction News” came to the training base of the training center of Shougang Institute of Technology to conduct focused interviews with the “Beijing Grand Craftsman” Wei Jianping. Led by Wei Jianping, the reporters visited Wei Jianping Studio, the training base of the training center, and CNC machine tools, and learned about CNC machining processes closely and conducted on-site interviews.

Wei Jianping has successively worked as bench worker, lathe worker, miller, CNC lathe worker, CNC machining center operator, and CNC machine tool commissioning engineer, who is now the head of Wei Jianping Studio of Beijing Shougang Machinery & Electric Co., Ltd. He works and studies work, making continuous improvement with diligent learning attitudes. To master the cutting-edge technology of CNC processing, he has been deeply involved in research. Now he has become a senior technician of CNC lathe and technician for CNC machining center operators, and serves as a member of the National CNC Professional Committee, senior referee of the national and Beijing CNC skill contests and senior reviewer and supervisor of CNC lathes in Beijing. In 2009, “Wei Jianping Studio” was rated as one of the first batch of employee innovation studios by the Beijing Federation of Trade Unions and the Beijing Municipal Science & Technology Commission; In April 2012, Wei Jianping won the title of “Shougang Model Worker” and the National May 1st Labor Medal; In 2013, Beijing Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau awarded Wei Jianping Studio the title of “Chief Technician Workshop for CNC Lathes,” and Wei Jianping became the leader in the CNC industry in Beijing.
