The National Development and Reform Commission recently announced the evaluation results of 1,331 national enterprise technology centers in 2017-2018. The “Shougang Technology Center” was rated as excellent with a score of 92.2, ranking the 22nd in the nation and ranking 2nd in the steel industry.

As the state-level enterprise technology center, Shougang Research Institute of Technology continuously strengthens the Group’s scientific and technological innovation management, and guides all units of the Group in increasing R&D investment, especially new product development and technological research, and strengthened basic and forward-looking research, achieving remarkable results. Since 2015, Shougang Group has achieved 2 global launches of new products and 12 domestic launches of new products, won 19 superior technology awards, and been awarded the title of “National Intellectual Property Model Enterprise” by the State Intellectual Property Office. In the big data analysis report on the “National Standards Development Contribution Index,” it ranked first in the metallurgical industry.

The National Development and Reform Commission and related departments organize, in principle, a national enterprise technology center operation evaluation every two years. Of the 1,331 enterprise technology centers that participated in this review, 54 were rated as excellent with a score of 90 or above, and among the iron and steel enterprises, only three units TISCO, Shougang, and Xinxing Cathay International Group were rated as excellent. Compared with the previous evaluation, Shougang moved up by 32 places from 54th in the overall ranking and 4 places from 6th in steel companies.

It is reported that Shougang will further conduct scientific and technological innovation in supporting quality change, optimize the collaborative and open group technology innovation system, accelerate the convergence of innovation factors, stimulate innovation potential, and create a comprehensive large-scale enterprise group with world influence.
