On January 30, the first session of the 15th People’s Congress in Beijing concluded successfully with various agenda accomplished. The result of the election and the list of elected members announced at the meeting showed that among the 55 representatives of the 13th National People’s Congress elected were Jin Wei, party secretary and chairman of Shougang Group, and Gu Jin, dean of Peking University Shougang Hospital.

According to the “Election Law of the People’s Republic of China”, the NPC deputies shall be elected by the people’s congresses of the provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the central government and the People’s Liberation Army, with the total number no more than 3,000.

The relevant provisions of the “Election Law” rules that the qualifications of the members of the 13th National People’s Congress be submitted to the Qualification Examination Committee of the NPC Standing Committee for examination and confirmation.
