A few days ago, China Iron and Steel Association and the Chinese Society for Metals announced “A Decision on the Recognition of Advanced Units and Outstanding Individuals of Scientific and Technological Work in China’s Iron and Steel Industry” to commend advanced units and outstanding individuals for their great scientific and technological contributions to the sustainable development of China’s iron and steel industry since the 18th National Congress of the CPC. Beijing Shougang Co., Ltd. and Beijing Shougang International Engineering Technology Co., Ltd. won the honorary title of “Advanced Unit of Scientific and Technological Work in China’s Iron and Steel Industry”. Wang Tao, Li Yang, Gao Changyi, Li Haibo, Qian Hongzhi and Yang Jieming from Shougang Group won the honorary title of “Outstanding Scientific and Technological Worker in China’s Iron and Steel Industry”; Qiu Dongying and Li Gang won the honorary title of “Outstanding Scientific and Technical Management Worker in China’s Iron and Steel Industry”.

The advanced units and individuals that won the honorary titles were carefully selected by the research of preparatory work leading group of iron and steel industry scientific and technological innovation conference after the recommendation of each member unit, the selection of the committee of experts, and the notice of final results in accordance with the “Selection Method of “12th Five-Year” Advanced Unit and Outstanding Individual of Scientific and Technological Work of China’s Iron and Steel Industry”.

In the past five years, 35 scientific and technological achievements in the Shougang Group won the Metallurgical Science and Technology Award. Among them, the “super large blast furnace with high efficiency and low cost technology integration” and “research and development and innovative application of pelletizing production technology of large belt type burning machine”, “new technological innovation of ‘return slag+ double slag’ converter steelmaking”, “key and technological research and application of high wind and temperature key technology on super large blast furnace”, “development of new pellet mines of magnesium, titanium and low silicon and its application in Jingtang super large blast furnace”, “development and application of welding technology of thick plate and supporting welding materials with high intensity and easy to weld for large hydropower stations” and other achievements won the first prize.
