Facade PV Project at Shougang's Liaoning Boron Iron Facility Begins Trial Operation
Release Time:2025-06-03The facade photovoltaic construction at Shougang Mining Investment-Liaoning Shougang Boron Iron's iron concentrate powder storage facility recently commenced its trial power generation phase. Despite the dual challenges of extreme cold weather and the scheduling constraints of the Spring Festival holiday, the construction team actively tackled the difficulties and completed all installation work by the end of January. Building upon the site's existing distributed photovoltaic installations, which have reached full capacity, this innovative facade photovoltaic construction project has now entered its trial operation. This initiative further advances the company's vision of achieving green "addition," demonstrating the "Liaoning Shougang Boron Iron Speed" by setting a rapid pace in the first month of the year.
"One day earlier for installation means one day earlier for operation and one day earlier for benefits." With a sense of urgency and responsibility, Liaoning Shougang Boron Iron launched a dedicated campaign to accelerate progress. The team actively coordinated with manufacturers to arrange overtime production of photovoltaic modules, inverters, and cables and secured dedicated vehicle deliveries to ensure all materials were on-site before construction commenced. Daily on-site meetings facilitated coordination among various specialists, while comprehensive safety and quality supervision was implemented throughout the entire process. These measures provided a solid foundation for safe and efficient construction.
On January 25, the Liaoning Shougang Boron Iron Party Committee reportedly organized an all-hands "battle" by mobilizing the plant's employees to participate in laying the main power transmission cables. This concerted effort reduced the originally scheduled two-day construction period to just half a day, allowing the team to complete the task before the heavy snowstorm arrived on January 26. On January 27, the day before Chinese New Year's Eve, the facade PV system at the iron concentrate powder storage facility began its trial power generation.
Adopting a multi-workforce, multi-point construction model, the project completed the installation of all PV panels within the designed capacity and achieved trial power generation conditions. The installation period was completed in half the planned time, demonstrating exceptional efficiency. Initial commissioning tests revealed a power generation efficiency of over 89%, surpassing expectations and the current industry average, resulting in outstanding energy performance. Effective cost control was implemented across design, material procurement, and construction, resulting in a per-watt cost that set a new record low for similar projects under Shougang Mining Investment, achieving exceptional cost-effectiveness. The deployment of high-power photovoltaic panels increased power generation by 16.36% year-on-year, delivering exceptional configuration optimization.
Liaoning Shougang Boron Iron has actively coordinated with local government authorities to adopt a "self-consumption first, grid feed-in later" operational model, which is complemented by partial optimization and dynamic management strategies. By utilizing factory rooftops, vacant land within the plant area, and now building facades, the facility's share of green electricity has exceeded 10%, with ongoing efforts to unlock further potential.
With Liaoning Shougang Boron Iron serving as a demonstration model, Shougang Mining Investment is striding confidently on its development path toward "zero-carbon mining." This year, we will implement several new initiatives as the company strives to make even greater contributions to fulfilling the "dual-carbon" strategy and upholding our ESG responsibilities.
