Brief Introduction to the Cadre Training of the Shougang Group

The Talent Development Institute of Shougang Group Co., Ltd. (Shougang Party School) is the strategic support department of Shougang Group Co., Ltd. and the training institution within the enterprise, focusing on training middle-level and above leaders, reserve leaders and senior talents. According to the requirements of the Party Committee of the Group Company, special training courses for young cadres, training courses for leaders, training courses for professional managers, overseas training courses for cadres and training courses for high-level innovative scientific and technological talents are regularly held.

I. Training of the Secretary and Chairman of the Grass-roots Party Committee of Shougang

The training of the secretary and chairman of the grass-roots Party Committee of Shougang focuses on carrying out the spirit of the 6th Plenary Session of the 18th Central Committee of the CPC and the National Conference on Party Construction of State-owned Enterprises, deeply understanding the current situation and tasks, accurately grasping the overall requirements of the Party committee work and corporate governance, focusing on solving the key problems in the work of the Party Committee and the construction of the board of directors, comprehensively improving the scientific level of Party building and corporate governance at the grass-roots level, and enhancing the performance and professional level of the secretary and chairman of the grass-roots Party Committee of Shougang.

The training takes the form of centralized off-production, and the trainees are some secretary and chairman of the grass-roots Party Committee of the Group Company. The main contents include: lectures given by group leaders and leaders of relevant departments, analysis and decision-making of company financial reports, discussion of difficult problems in work, visits to learn advanced enterprise experience, and party building and cultural construction of enterprises.

II. Special Training Course for Young Cadres of Shougang

The main target of training young cadres in Shougang is outstanding young cadres in Shougang Group. The aim is to train a new generation of enterprise leaders with excellent political quality, qualified professional quality, excellent style quality and meeting the future needs of Shougang for Shougang.

Participants in the special training class have studied deeply Xi Jinping's socialist ideology with Chinese characteristics in the new era and the spirit of the 19th National Congress, the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Plenary Sessions of the 19th CPC Central Committee and General Secretary Xi Jinping’s series of important speeches. The main training contents include: General Secretary Xi Jinping's "Five Good" cadre standards and requirements for state-owned enterprise leaders at the National Conference on Party Construction of State-owned Enterprises; military training, basic theory and Party's line, policy and fine tradition; working methods and leadership art; and the basic task of deepening reformation in Shougang.

At present, three special training courses for young cadres have been held in Shougang, training 220 young cadres. Systematic training has promoted the growth of cadres, and many young cadres have stepped into leading positions.




III. Leaders of Shougang Implement the Round Training of the Spirit of the 19th National Congress of the Party

In order to further study and implement the spirit of the 19th National Congress of the CPC and Xi Jinping's socialist ideology with Chinese characteristics in the new era, according to the requirements of the “Notice of the Organizational Department of the Central Committee of the CPC on Learning and Implementing the Centralized Round Training of the 19th National Congress of the CPC” and the unified arrangement of the Party Committee of the Group, three consecutive round training courses for leaders in Shougang Group to learn and implement the spirit of the 19th National Congress of the Party were held.

The training takes the form of centralized off-production, and the trainees are the leaders above the group office. The main contents include: the spirit of the 19th National Congress, Xi Jinping's socialist thought with Chinese characteristics in the new era, the Constitution of the Communist Party of China, and the construction of a modern economic system; watching the series of "Stay True to the Mission and Keep Forward" and "Inspecting Swords" and studying and discussing the series of important speeches of General Secretary Xi.

IV. Overseas Research and Training of Young Cadres in Shougang

Overseas study of young cadres in Shougang is a training activity carried out by Shougang Group to train high-end managerial talents. At present, overseas research projects in the United States and Europe have been developed. Through a three-month overseas study, the trainees can systematically learn the knowledge of international business management, broaden the vision of foreign-related economy and trade, improve the ability of cross-cultural communication and international business management, and have an international vision and thinking.

In accordance with the spirit of the Group Party Committee's instructions, in 2018, focusing on the new requirements of Shougang's transformation and development for steel production, urban service and other new industries and management, overseas research was arranged for the first time in a targeted way. Students from two directions of finance and enterprise management were organized to study in the United States and Europe respectively, and international talent cultivation went to a new level.

V. Training of Middle-level Management Cadres in Shougang

Middle-level managers are the backbone of an enterprise and the key force to implement the strategy. They should not only keep a holistic mind, but also be familiar with specific business operations. The training of middle-level management cadres in Shougang helps students update their management concepts, improve their management ability, master effective management methods and enhance their execution ability by means of theoretical explanation, theme discussion, group debate, case analysis, multimedia teaching, role playing, field simulation, management games, outward bound training, sand table simulation, enterprise visiting study, on-site operation guidance and so on, so as to create management elite.

The main training contents are: the role orientation of professional managers, the change of ideas - from managers to leaders, the four roles of leaders, the concept and skills of interpersonal relations, business etiquette, six thinking hats, crisis public relations and media response, etc.

VI. Training of Scientific and Technological Innovation

In order to promote the Group's "13th Five-Year Plan" development strategy and human resources planning, improve the ability level of scientific and technological innovative talents of the Group and assist the transformation and development of Shougang in the new era, we organize scientific and technological innovation training courses, enhance the scientific and technological innovation ability of the front-line young technical backbones of Shougang, and cultivate the leading innovative talents in the scientific and technological circles of Shougang with high level of innovation theory and strong practical ability.

Shougang Science and Technology Innovation Training Course upholds the principle of "combining theory with practice, combining inside and outside of Shougang, combining teaching with investigation and study", carries out training, integrates various training methods, carries out research-based teaching, builds learning-type classes, implements segmented learning, and pays attention to the transformation of learning results.

According to the guiding principle of "serving Shougang, facing high end, ability-based and radiating all staff", the Talent Development Institute of Shougang Group will organically integrate organizational needs, post needs and personal needs around the requirements of the 13th Five-Year Plan of the Group, strengthen the development of key talents, promote the construction of training system, and play a role of strategic support in deepening the reformation, transformation and development of the Group and creating a brilliant future for Shougang in the past 100 years.
