China Shougang International Trade & Engineering Company and related units have conscientiously implemented the requirements of this year’s “two sessions” of Shougang Group on “doing a good job in achieving the goals in both production and efficiency in the new factory of the second phase of Hierro Peru”. After eight months of hard work, adhering to “operation according to the designated plan with a cooperative system and multi-lateral cooperation,” it made every effort to promote a series of work, such as process debugging, process rationalization as well as design and equipment defect elimination. By the end of March, the main technological indicators of the expansion project of 10 million tons of concentrate of Shougang Hierro Peru reached the design level, and achieved the goals in both production and efficiency with high standards, promoting the annual production capacity of high-quality concentrate of Shougang Hierro Peru to reach more than 20 million tons. Recently, the Peruvian Ministry of Energy and Mines issued an official document, approving the project to be transferred into formal production and operation. Following the miracle of engineering construction in Peru by the completion of the construction of the project on July 31 last year, the production and debugging speed of Shougang people once again deeply convinced the people in the remote eastern Pacific coast.

The expansion project of 10 million tons of concentrate of Shougang Hierro Peru is an important achievement of the cooperation between China and Peru, and is also the first project of the “Belt and Road” in Latin America. The project began construction in August 2014, with the first phase of power supply and distribution and equipment installation of raw ore production system completed in December 2016, and the second phase of the overall construction of new factory and desalination plant completed in July 2018.

As an important support point of Shougang Group’s overseas development strategy, the overall process technology and equipment level of the expansion project of 10 million tons of concentrate from Shougang Hierro Peru has reached first-class international standards. The project was built, put into operation and has successfully reached the production goal, which not only provides a substantial raw material guarantee for the high-quality development of Shougang’s iron and steel industry, but also further enhances the overseas influence of Shougang. 27 years ago, Shougang people went out of the country and entered Latin America to become the first pioneers in overseas development. Today, they earnestly practice the “Belt and Road” Initiative China advocates, deepen international capacity cooperation and mutual benefit, and never cease their pace of continuous running.
