The “Belt and Road” Initiative has brought another new project to Shougang. On October 29th, 2018，the consortium of Shougang Construction Group and CITIC Construction signed a contract on curtain wall for the THEONE project in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The total contract price exceeded US $70 million, marking that Shougang Construction Group had won another large overseas engineering project and made major breakthroughs and progress in the construction projects in the region.

The THEONE project in Sri Lanka is located in the heart of the Colombo CBD. It is a four hundred thousand square meter international city complex consisting of a 200-year-old heritage building and three 300-meter-high super high-rise towers, with functions covering Ritz-Carlton and JW Marriott, two luxury five-star hotels, as well as luxury apartments, luxury goods business buildings, and high-end office buildings. It’s the only building project gathering Ritz-Carlton Hotels and Apartments, JW Marriott and apartments in the world. Once completed, it will also become a landmark in Colombo and South Asia.

Shougang Construction Group International Co., Ltd. adheres to innovation and development, actively expands new overseas engineering projects, and cooperated with CITIC Construction to track, negotiate and host owners to visit Beijing in early 2018. Within more than half a year, it has negotiated several contract terms with the owners and finally confirmed the signing of the contract.

On October 12th, the framework agreement for the THEONE project was signed at the project site in Colombo, Sri Lanka, followed by a press conference. THEONE - Sri Lanka project developer THEONETRANSWORKSQUARE (PVT) announced the partnership. On the day of signing, major media and TV stations in Sri Lanka also did on-site interviews. Sri Lankan TV News reported on the signing of the contract during the prime time in the evening that day, and the local mainstream newspapers and periodicals also reported on the project signing at the time.
