Key Technologies of Shougang Automobile Plate EVI Have Achieved Remarkable Results

Recently, Shougang’s major process research project, “Key Technologies of Automobile Plate EVI”, has achieved remarkable results, and has now completed many new models of EVI practice, and significantly increased the share of new models. By the end of August, 76.8% of the annual plan for EVI supply was completed. Key technologies of EVI support, including forming, connection, corrosion and painting, have been continuously improved and key breakthroughs have been made.

Automobile plate EVI refers to the iron and steel enterprises involved in the early research and development stage of downstream automobile manufacturing enterprises, which fully understand the needs of users, and provide users with higher performance materials and more personalized services. Facing the problems of fuel consumption, environmental protection and safety in the automobile industry, automobile technology is developing towards the direction of light weight, energy-saving and environmental protection. The steel-aluminum hybrid body fits the development trend of light weight, while cost reduction is an effective means for automobile enterprises to enhance market competitiveness. Domestic and foreign famous steel enterprises have set up a full-time automobile plate EVI team. The competition in the industry is becoming fiercer and fiercer. Shougang automobile plate EVI provides the users with the full process technical support, from design to mass production, to meet the needs of users, but also to promote their own product progress and technological development. In recent years, Shougang’s EVI technical capacity has improved rapidly, but there is still much room for improvement in the depth of cooperation. The project research team led by chief engineer Li Chunguang is looking for the right short plate. Through unremitting innovation and continuous development of EVI key technologies such as forming, connection, corrosion and painting, they are making efforts to push the cooperation to a deeper level.

Shougang EVI has established a work pattern of setting up project teams with users, assigning users, and working together, successfully implementing the new model of lightweight materials, technology cost reduction, high-strength steel forming evaluation, and many other vehicle EVIs. For a new type of vehicle, the research team put forward 8 structural optimization schemes, implemented the panoramic skylight frame assembly mold package design, and finally obtained one-third of the supply share of the model. For the first time, through the combination of material optimization, advanced technology and structure optimization, the light weight of new energy passenger cars has been successfully realized, and the overall program effect has been approved by users. Shougang became the only steel company whose application scheme was eventually adopted and gained about a quarter of the supply of the model.

Forming quality control is one of the key technical difficulties in automobile plate product promotion for Shougang. In view of the influence of different surface states on stamping deformation behavior in automobile plate, the key research team headed by Wang Baochuan adjusted the die and stamping process parameters, and determined the selection principles of mechanical properties, surface roughness, lubrication conditions and other parameters of materials, and thus systematically established the solutions. The parameters have been successfully applied in the core independent brand and joint venture brand car enterprises. In addition, the team also independently designed and developed a galling simulation test device. Through the systematic study of friction and wear, the cracking, galling and wrinkling problems of complex parts, such as side circumference, airfoil, inside door plate and front coaming plate were solved, which is highly recognized by users.

Steel and aluminum hybrid body is the main trend of light weight development. In the manufacture of parts of steel and aluminum hybrid body, the difference of physical and chemical properties of steel and aluminum alloy brings great challenges to the traditional body connection manufacturing technology. In view of the complex factors affecting the mechanical connection of steel and aluminum, Zhang Yongqiang led the research team to establish a self-impact riveting model of steel and aluminum, and through the validity of the experimental results, the accurate simulation of the connection process of steel and aluminum was achieved. The connection technology of high strength steel and aluminum alloy was successfully grasped through the use of spot welding equipment, and a new technology of joining steel and aluminum was initiated. At the same time, the effects of material ratio and environmental factors on galvanic corrosion and crevice corrosion of steel and aluminum were clarified and effective analysis and evaluation methods and control measures were put forward.

In order to adapt to the rapid development trend of the new coating technology of automobiles free from middle coating under the increasingly strict environmental protection requirements, the team headed by Hao Yulin explored the surface roughness of steel plate by combining basic research with engineering applications. The influence of corrugation degree, deformation conditions and coating processes on the appearance quality of the surface paint has formed the control scheme of surface quality of the non-medium coated outer plate, and has realized the deep cooperation and application with the core independent brand users.

The technical breakthrough and successful application of the key technology project of automobile plate EVI has improved the technical support mode of automobile plate, and effectively enhanced the market share and competitiveness of Shougang’s automobile plate, which has great significance for Shougang to occupy the commanding point of the market for automobile plate and achieve differentiated competition.
