Recently, Shougang Environmental Corporation and Beijing Xinshi Road & Bridge Construction Co., Ltd. signed an experimental supply agreement, and achieved demonstration application of construction waste recycling inorganic materials in the highway industry in the renovation project of Guba Road in Fangshan District. In this project, the bricks and inorganic materials are widely used in the Beijing Road System. The base layer is made of brick and concrete and recycled inorganic materials and the base layer applies waste concrete, recycling inorganic materials. The strength grade is 1.0MPa, and the accumulated inorganic material is 3,960 tons. After the construction party, owners and supervisors conducted on-site "drill heart" and "deflection" test, the core samples and test results have met the standard requirements, and laying effect has been unanimously recognized by the owners and construction site, and 4,000 tons of material will be re-supplied in the future.

In recent years, with the large-scale advancements of road network construction, the total mileage of new constructed, rebuilt and expanded roads has increased. However, the supply channels of natural raw materials for road construction are increasingly strained, which has become an important link in the future construction of road networks. Therefore, the application of construction waste in the highway industry will be the most effective way of consuming and utilizing resources. But, due to the constraints of the traditional concept and the level of production, the resourceful treatment of construction waste and application in highway industry are not implemented smoothly.

In order to promote the large-scale application of construction waste recycling products in the highway industry, the Beijing Municipal Transportation Commission conducted a special research on the production technology and performance of recycled construction waste road materials in 2016. Shougang Environmental Industry Co., Ltd. worked with Beijing University of Technology, the Municipal Road and Bridge Department and other production and research units to actively carry out this project research. Environmental Company organized professional and technical staff to carry out systematic research against the classification and processing of construction waste; production process and performance of renewable materials; performance and production technology of recycled construction waste road material. Thanks to long-term technical reserves and research, the laboratory performance indicators meet or exceed the technical requirements.

This project has laid a solid foundation for the application of recycled construction waste products in the highway industry through convergence management, R & D, production and construction. In particular, through demonstration application in the Guba Road project, the inorganic brick and tile materials are widely used in the Beijing road system, which provides a new way to alleviate the present shortage of road materials in Beijing, and makes a contribution to the implementation of green, low-carbon and circular urban development.
